The preferred mounting orientation of a single ended transmitter in Liquid
service is in the vertical position with process connection pointing up or
horizontal at an angle that will allow any gas to escape. Gas at the
pressure measuring surface slows the response of the sensor to pressure
changes due to the compressibility of the gas. Refer to Figure 2-1.
Figure 2-1 Model SFP32 in Proper Orientation for Liquid Service
In service measuring a Gas with condensable vapors the preferred
mounting orientation of the unit is in the vertical position with the process
connection pointing down. This orientation allows any vapor that may
condense to liquid to drain out of the process connection. If mounted with
the process connection pointing up, liquid would collect in the process
connection and the resulting pressure measurement would be offset due to
the weight of the liquid against the pressure sensing surface.
Refer to Figure 2-2.
