Zipper Sewing (continued)
x Sew through all layers the entire length of the
zipper tape, removing the pins as you go. Stop the
machine about 2" (5cm) before the zipper foot
reaches the pull tab. Lower the needle slightly into
the fabric. Raise the zipper foot and unzip a few
inches to clear a path for the stitches. Lower the
foot and stitch the remainder of the seam.

v Raise and re-attach the zipper foot on the left-hand
side of the pin.
Sew across just below the zipper bottom stop, up
to the right side of the zipper teeth. Turn fabric 90º
and stitch through the garment and zipper tape,
guiding the edge of the foot along the zipper teeth.
b Before reaching pull-tab, stop the machine
with needle in fabric and raise the foot. Use seam
ripper to open a few inches of basting stitches,
then unzip a few inches to clear a path for the
stitch.

n Lower the foot and stitch the remainder of the
seam, making sure the fold is even. At the end of
the seam, sew in reverse a few stitches to lock.
Once both sides of zipper are sewn, use seam
ripper to open the basting stitch.
