The product is a wear part, which means it is subject to normal wear and tear.
4 Description
4.1 Copolymer (TPE) Knee Sleeves
The Derma Protection, Derma ProFlex and Derma ProFlex Plus sealing sleeves are coated with
copolymer gel on the inside. These sealing sleeves provide optimum suspension on the socket
and leg, while their elasticity allows a high degree of mobility for the knee. They can be used as
the primary suspension system or together with elevated vacuum sockets. The Copolymer gel is
molded with a medical mineral oil, which has a beneficial effect on the skin. During wear the oil
slowly diffuses from the gel, thus lubricating and moisturizing the skin.
• Derma Protection Knee Sleeve (453A2): basic, cylindrical shape for flexible positioning; avail-
able in 4 sizes
• Derma ProFlex / Derma ProFlex Plus Knee Sleeve (453A3, 453A4, 453A30, 453A40): anatomical
and conical shape with 15° pre-flexion for improved range of motion in the knee joint; available
in 3 sizes
4.2 Polyurethane (PUR) Knee Sleeves
The Knee Sleeves Harmony® and Harmony® conical are made from a Polyurethane gel. The main
characteristic of the polyurethane gel is its unique yielding (flowing) effect. The Polyurethane Knee
Sleeves are designed for the use with valves or the Harmony® system. They should always be used
in connection with the Gaiter 454A11 to extend their longevity and retain their sealing properties
(also see chapter 5.1). The Gaiter is included in the delivery.
• Harmony Knee Sleeve (454A7): slight conical shape, flexibility for positioning and a special
durable textile cover; available in 5 sizes
• Harmony conical Knee Sleeve (454A8): very conical shape for improved fit with patients that
have a large thigh circumference; available in 7 sizes

Indications for use

5.1 Gaiter 454A11 (only with Polyurethane Knee Sleeves)
The Gaiter is designed to prolong the PUR Knee Sleeve longevity and is included in the delivery.
The interior has a smooth Lycra® surface that will glide over the socket brim while the exterior
has an airtight film surface that will seal against the Knee Sleeve. Please install the Gaiter before
using the Knee Sleeve according the following guidelines:
5.1.1 Installation of the Gaiter
• Apply the Gaiter on the exterior proximal section of the socket
• The distal Gaiter edge should be 1" (2,5cm) below the posterior socket trim line
• Tape the Gaiter to the socket with vinyl or polyethylene tape
