2.1.2.2- Replacing the battery

The average life of the battery is 4 years. Therefore, it must be replaced every four years or whenever
the capacity of the fully-charged battery is appreciably reduced. To change the battery, turn off the equip-
ment and disconnet the power cord , then follow the procedure indicated in Figure 1.

Remove the attachment screws A from the cover of the battery compartment, which is located on
the back of the instrument.

Remove the cover of the battery compartment.

Remove the screw B that holds down the attachment flange of the battery and remove the latter.

Disconnect the connection terminals of the battery, take out the antiacid protector and replace the
battery with a new one. Pay attention to the red-positive black-negative polarity of the terminals.
VERY IMPORTANT:
Avoid any type of short circuit among the cables connected to the battery, since the resulting
high current may cause serious damage to the equipment.

Reinsert and screw down the attachment flange with the screw.

Replace the cover of the battery compartment and screw it down with the corresponding screws.
NOTE
When operating on the battery the MTS 100 has no protection fuses accessible to the user. The
power-supply system has a set of electronic safety devices to ensure its proper functioning. If the ins-
trument stops functioning, it must be taken directly to the nearest technical assistance service to be
checked.

2.2.- Grounding

This piece of equipment is designed for a power supply of from 95 to 250 V AC 50-60 Hz without a vol-
tage selector.
To guarantee safe handling, the MTS 100 is equipped with a connector on the side panel for its
GROUNDING connection (Mains connector [41]).
