should light up and the indicator of the LEVEL and the FREQUENCY corresponding to the 00 program (PR:
00) should appear. The PROG [33] indicator will light up as will the light indicator of the SAT [21] band or the
TV [20] band. If the SPECT [12] function key has been selected, the display should light up and the band and
the reference level indication will appear. The PROG [33] indicator will light up, as will the light indicator of the
SAT [21] band or the TV [20] band, according to the 00 program (PR:00).
Using the TV [10], SYNC [11] and SPECT [12] controls, select the desired function.
Using the SEL [34] control, select the tuning mode; that is, select a previously stored program, or a
channel, or tuning by frequency directly.
Using the 20 dB ATT [25] selector in SAT band, select the desired attenuation of the signal to be mea-
sured. Using the 20 dB IF ATT [16], the 20 dB RF ATT [18], and the 40 dB RF ATT [17] selectors in the TV
band, select the desired attenuation of the signal to be measured.
If necessary in the SAT band, power the LNB correctly by means of the 13 V [28], the 18 V [27], and
the 22 kHz [26] keys. If these keys are left in their original positions, no power will be supplied to the LNB.

3.2.2.- Operating as a spectrum analyzer

When the instrument is in the spectrum analyzer operating mode, the user can quickly and easily find
out the signals present in each band of the area or region he is working in.
The frequency spectrums can be analyzed either in the entire band selected, in the FULL SPAN
mode, or in the proximity of the current tuning frequency in the variable SPAN mode.
To analyze a band other than the present band, leave the spectrum mode, select a signal correspon-
ding to the band to be studied and enter the spectrum mode again.
Although the tuning is continuous between 48 and 860 MHz and between 950 and 2050 MHz, a band
select is included to limit the spectrum display to the commercial bands currently in use.
The bands are the following:
Name
LOW
HIGH
UHF
SAT
On the monitor a vertical base bar appears on the left side of the screen, as well as the lobes repre-
senting the signals horizontally, with the higher frequencies in the upper part of the screen and the lower fre-
quencies in the lower part. The distance with respect to the base bar or the lobe amplitude represents its
energy and indicates the level to be measured with the field meter. A signal whose level is lower than -30
dBµV with respect to the reference will not appear in the spectrum, and a signal whose level is that of the refe-
[6] control. If the SPECT [12] function key has not been selected, the display
