ment range. If with the IF ATT 20 dB [16] attenuator the > sign is still present, press the RF ATT 20 dB [18] or
the RF ATT 40 dB [17], or press both controls simultaneously until a reading is obtained that lies within the
measurement range.
-
In the MTS 100, the µP corrects the linearity and flatness errors, so that the value that appears on
the display is already corrected. In this way, considerable improvement in the accuracy, ease and speed of use
is achieved.
-
For best results, work with the lowest possible RF attenuation and the maximum IF attenuation to
prevent tuner noise (snow on the monitor screen).
-
The level reading for a well-tuned signal must always be within the range of the scale. Otherwise
there is a risk of saturating the tuner and providing a poor picture quality, losing the correct amplitude of the
synchronism level, with failure of the line and frame synchronisms, the sound distorting the picture.
To calculate the value in µV, take into account the table of equivalencies below:
Thus, the value of the signal in µV of 86 dBµV is:
80 dBµV = (80 + 6) dBµV = (10,000 x 2) µV = 20,000 µV = 20 mV
3 dB equals a factor of 1.41
6 dB equals a factor of 2
20 dB equals a factor of 10
40 dB equals a factor of 100
60 dB equals a factor of 1000
80 dB equals a factor of 10,000
