personal injury.
Temporary mounting of bench
grinder to workbench (Fig . 8)
An alternative method of securing your bench
grinder is to fasten the grinder base to a
mounting board 12" x 18" minimum size to
prevent grinder from tipping while in use. Any
good piece of plywood with a 3/4" (19 mm)
minimum thickness is recommended.
1. Mark and drill two 3/8" (9mm) diameter
holes through the plywood board of at least
12" x 18" (30.5 x 45.7 cm)
2. Secure the bench grinder to the plywood
board using 5/16" (8 mm) flat head screws,
lock washers and hex nuts (not included).
The screw lengths should be at least 2-3/4"
(70 mm) long for the mounting board that is 3/4" (19mm) thick.
NOTE: For proper stability, holes must be countersunk so that the bolt heads are flush
with the bottom surface of the mounting board.
3. Securely clamp the mounting board to a workbench using two or more work clamps (not
included).
Supporting surface where the bench grinder is to be mounted should be examined
carefully after mounting to ensure that no movement can occur during use. If any tipping
or walking is noted, secure the workbench or stand before operating the bench grinder.
Always make sure your bench grinder is securely mounted to a workbench.
Failure to do so could result in an accident resulting in possible serious
