6. COMMUNICATIONS
6.1. Ethernet: equipment to server
– Connect the Ethernet cable from the server to the
electronics connector as indicated. Be particularly careful
that the cable is not taut, as this can cause irreparable
damage to the electronic plate.
6.2. Modem: equipment to server
– Optionally, the equipment can be purchased with a
modem.
– Insert the data SIM card as indicated:
6.3. RS485: multipoint communications
– The equipment in the SM20 series can be configured to work in a group.
Communication among equipment is performed via RS485.
– RS-485 cable recommended: 2 x 1 mm2 braided and shielded hose.
– One must be configured as Master (which will communicate with the
OCPP server via Ethernet or modem) and up to 11 pieces of equipment
as Slave.
– Warning! The distance between the Master equipment and furthest
Slave should never exceed 500 meters.
– Connect the cables in the green terminal blocks as indicated: RS485+,
RS485-, GND.
– Review the configuration manual to configure the local communication
parameters of the equipment.
– In the first and last device on bus 485, a jumper must be set to J1. As
indicated:

6.4. RS485: communications with SPL analyser
For dynamic balancing of the equipment with the installation, an accessory
can be added: SPL analyser.
– The analyser must be connected to the Master equipment with which it
will communicate via RS-485.
– RS-485 cable recommended: 2 x 1 mm2 braided and shielded hose.
– Warning! The distance between the Master equipment and analyser
should never exceed 500 meters.
– Connect the wires to the green terminal blocks of the electronics as
shown: RS485+, RS485-, GND.
– Review the configuration manual to configure the local communication
parameters of the equipment.

7. CLOSING THE EQUIPMENT
Press the equipment cover from the bottom until it is closed.
Once the box is closed, tighten it with the two screws provided.
8. OPERATION
– The SM20 Business series equipment allows the charging of an electric vehicle
in mode 3 using a type 2 connector.
– In the German socket outlet version, both connectors work completely
independently and power balancing is performed to get the maximum
potential out of the equipment without penalizing any of the connected
vehicles. The German socket outlet connector allows the charging of electric
vehicles with mode 1 and 2. A LED on the front of the unit shows its status:

8.1 Charging process (mode: activation with RFID card)
To charge a vehicle, follow these steps:
During charging, the connector is blocked to avoid its removal by
unauthorised users.
Note: If charging is interrupted by the vehicle, the connector will be
unblocked after 30 seconds.

1. Hold the RFID card near the antenna symbol on the
equipment to activate it.
2. Connect the ends of the cable to the charger and the
vehicle.
3. Check that the front LED turns from green to solid blue,
which indicates that charging has begun successfully.
4. When the vehicle is completely charged, the front LED will
begin to blink blue.
5. To finish charging, hold the RFID card near the antenna
symbol on the equipment.
6. Disconnect the vehicle.
