The power plug may only be inserted into power sockets with protection earth contact. The use of
an extension cable without protective conductor preventing any protection is not allowed.
Opening the covers or removing components, except those accessible by hand, may expose to live
parts or to high temperature components.
The equipment must be disconnected from any power source before any calibration, replacement or
upkeep and repair operation requiring the equipment to be opened.
If, however, calibration, maintenance or repair operations of the open live equipment cannot be
avoided, they must be executed by authorised technical operators who are aware of the danger to
which they are exposed.
Make sure that only fuses for the required current rating and of the prescribed type are used for
replacement. Repaired fuses must not be used and short-circuiting of fuse holders must be avoided.
Whenever there is a possibility of damaging a protection, the equipment must be deactivated and
protected against unintentional use.
CAUTION: For stocking the packages containing the equipment and handling it
once installed, the regulations of the Italian Legislative Decrees No. 626 of
19/9/94 and 242 of 19/3/96 shall apply. Use suitable instruments to open the
packages.
DANGER: To use the instrument it is necessary to insert the exhaust gas
measuring probe into the vehicle exhaust tail pipe: pay attention to high
temperatures near the exhaust tail pipe.
CAUTION: Exhaust gas sampling probe must be inserted while the engine is not
running in order to avoid inhaling toxic gases emitted by the vehicle exhaust tail
pipe.
DANGER: The opacity measuring unit contains live components. Only
authorised personnel shall open the instrument for repair, as they are adequately
trained on how to proceed. The instrument shall be opened for repair only when
the mains cable has been disconnected from the primary mains.
