ENERGY METER
MAIN INFORMATION
– Regulations in force for the use of
the calorimeter: EN 1434, parts 1 and
6, Directive 2004/22/EC, Annex I and
Annex MI-004, for national measuring
instruments standards.
– Comply with all requirements for the
installation of electrical equipment
– To ensure long life and correct opera-
tion of the instrument, the composition
of the water must comply with directive
FW-510 issued by the German associ-
ation AGFW (Arbeitsgemeinschaft für
Wärme und Heizkraftwirtschaft). In the
case of water of a different composi-
tion from the specification, the instru-
ment must be regularly serviced by the
manufacturer.
– The seals of the instrument must not
be damaged or removed. If this is not
the case, the warranty and the validity
of the first inspection will be forfeited.
– The instrument leaves the factory in
perfect working order, in perfect con-
dition and in compliance with safety
regulations.
– To ensure the integrity of the instru-
ment, only remove it from its packag-
ing when it is ready to be installed.
– Assembly, maintenance and repair
operations should only be performed
by qualified personnel.
– Clean the instrument only if necessary
and with damp cloth.
– Store and transport the instrument at
a temperature greater than 0 ° C.
– Observe the installation conditions.
The standard provides for the installa-
tion on the return circuit; an optional
version is available for installation on
the flow circuit.
– If the instrument is equipped with an
integrated return temperature sensor,
it must be installed on the return cir-
cuit.
– - In the case of instruments with an
integrated temperature sensor in the
volumeter, respect the minimum flow
rate as indicated on the instrument
label q ≥ 24 l/h / q ≥ 50 l/h.
Caution: a direct installation (wet) in
the flow circuit is required for the tem-
perature sensor.
– In the case of installing multiple
meters on the same unit, make sure
that the installation conditions are the
same for each instrument.
Once installed (wet installation), the
temperature sensor and the locking
nut must not be altered and the seal
must not be removed.
– The cables must be kept at a min-
imum distance of 20 cm from any
sources of electromagnetic interfer-
ence (switches, regulators, pumps,
etc.) and at a minimum distance of 10
cm from other electric cables or wiring
(sensor cables, M-bus, etc.).
– Do not twist, lengthen or shorten the
temperature sensor cables.
INSTALLATION OF THE HEAT COUNTER
– Close the valves
– Clean the pipes
– Open the valve on the back of the
closing tap to discharge the pressure
and empty the section of pipe which is
closed.
– Remove the screwed coupling from the
heat counter.
– Remove the old seals and clean the
surface of any residue.
– Position the new seal.
– Use silicone grease to lubricate the
volumeter threading.
– Position the volumeter respecting the
direction of the flow (check the direc-
tion of the arrow).
– Replace and tighten the screwed cou-
pling.
– Rotate the counter to the correct read-
ing position.
NOTE: To ease the fitting in restricted or
small spaces, the counter can be sepa-
rated from the volumeter.
To remove the electronic unit, lift the
upper part by interlocking as shown in
the figure.
START UP
– slowly open the isolation valves.
– Check for leaks and check operation
Also check that:
– the heating system is in operation
– the closing valves are open
– the pipes are not clogged and the filter
is clean
– seals have been applied to the tem-
perature sensors
– the indicator arrow fitted to the vol-
umeter is indicating in the correct
direction
– the instrument displays the volume
– any displayed temperature differences
are correct
– the temperature sensor with the red
label is installed on the flow circuit.
– the temperature sensor with the blue
label is installed on the return circuit.
– In the instruments with an integrated
return temperature sensor, the volu-
meter must be installed on the return
circuit.
After having checked the correct func-
tioning of the system, apply the seals
to the temperature sensor and the elec-
tronic control unit.
If the meter has to be replaced, take note
of the reading and serial number.
