Mechanical danger
The Extension Unit is fastened to a SIMATIC PRO device. Secure the PRO device and the Extension Unit adequately against
falling when mounting and removing.
Use the PRO device and the Extension Unit with a support arm or pedestal system suitable for your application that provides
at least IP65 degree of protection. The support arm or pedestal system and the associated fasteners must be dimensioned
for the total weight of the PRO device and the Extension Unit for all acting forces.
Observe the notes in the associated operating instructions and the documentation of the support arm/pedestal
system.
WARNING
No approval for hazardous areas
The Extension Unit is not approved for use in hazardous areas.
Note
Install RFID reader according to the operating instructions
When an RFID reader is installed in a suitable Extension Unit, the radio properties of the RFID reader must not be altered. To
ensure this, follow the installation instructions in the operating instructions.
Electromagnetic compatibility
The device is intended for operation in EMC industrial environments.
Ensure an EMC-compliant installation as described in the operating instructions.
NOTICE
Interference emission/interference immunity
Operation of the device may cause radio interference in residential environments.
Additional measures are required if higher EMC disturbances are expected at the place of use than intended for industrial
environments according to EN61000-6-2 (e.g. ESD).
IP65 degree of protection
WARNING
Personal injury or property damage due to damaged seals
When properly installed, the devices have IP65 degree of protection on all sides. If device seals are damaged, for example,
during maintenance work, moisture or liquids can enter the device or the enclosure or cabinet. Personal injury or property
damage caused by a short circuit or electric shock may result.
Check the device and its seals for integrity before assembly. Take care not to damage the device seals during assembly and
maintenance work.
