Function
- General safety functions
Description of functions
When the system is switched on for the
first time, after a power failure or safety
shutdown, after a lack of gas or after the
system has been out of operation for 24
hours, the pre-ventilation period of 30
seconds begins.
During pre-purge period:
- blower pressure is monitored
- the combustion chamber is monitored for
flame signals.
At the end of the pre-purge period:
- ignition is switched on.
- main and safety valve are opened.
- burner starts.
Monitoring
The flame is monitored by an UV Cell.
The burner switches to lock-out if it
doesn't survey the light of the flame.
Safety functions
- If no flame is produced when the burner
is started (gas release), the burner will be
switched off at the end of the safety
period, lasting no more than 3 seconds,
and the gas valve will close.
- If the flame goes out during operation,
the gas supply is interrupted within one
second. A restart takes place. Once the
burner starts, operation is continued.
Otherwise, a safety lock-out occours.
- If there is a lack of air during reventilation
or operation, a safety lock-out occours.
- If there is a lack of gas, the burner does

not begin operation or switches off.
In the event of controller shutdown
- Controller thermostat interrupts heat
request.
- Gas solenoid valves close.
- Flame goes out.
- Burner motor switches off.
- Burner is ready for operation.
Operating mode
After the flame has developed the load
regulator will be enabled which brings the
burner into its operating position.
The load regulator will now control the
burner automatically between its partial-
load and full-load stages.
Depending on the heat demand, the
electric actuator of the mechanical
compound control system will be fed with
the OPEN or CLOSE signal via the
regulator and thus increase or decrease
the oil and air flow rates.
This compound control system will vary
the positions of the oil (gas) control valve
and air damper and thus regulate the oil
flow rate in conjunction with the air flow
rate. The burner can either be controlled in
two-stage sliding mode or, if a respective
controller is provided, in stepless control
mode.
The stepless control will allow the burner
to be operated at any desired stage
between its partial-load and full-load

positions. The burner will be turned off
from its partial-load position. The air
damper will be closed when the burner is
out of operation and will thus prevent cold
air flowing through the burner chamber,
heat exchanger and chimney.
The interior cooling losses will be greatly
minimized.
