Maintenance operations after each use:
Avoid damage to the machine!
Remove all deposits from the upper
side of the mowing deck in order to
prevent accumulation of dry and
therefore flammable organic
material.
– Clean the machine (mowing deck,
discharge chute) and any attachments.
– Observe the instructions on cleaning
the engine (see engine instruction
manual).

is recommended.
STIHL recommends STIHL specialist
dealers.
Maintenance operations after every 25
operating hours:
– Checking of blade fastening and blade
sharpness, observe blade wear limit.
Maintenance operations after every 50

Note
During the inspection by the
specialist dealer, the braking
function is checked and, if
necessary, the brakes are serviced.
Furthermore, all required
maintenance operations on the
gearbox are carried out.
14.2 Cleaning the machine
Avoid damage to the machine!
Never spray water (high-pressure
cleaner) onto engine components,
seals, electrical components
(battery, wiring harness, etc.) and
bearing points. This may result in
damage and expensive repairs.
Do not use aggressive cleaning
agents. These cleaners can
damage plastics and metals,
impairing the safe operation of your
STIHL machine. If you are unable
to remove the dirt with water using
a brush or a cloth, STIHL
recommends the use of a special
cleaner (e.g. STIHL special
cleaner).
Always remove the mowing deck
for cleaning and maintenance
operations.
● Stop the engine. (
12.3)
● Engage the parking brake. (
● Remove the ignition key and keep it in a
safe place.
● Remove the mowing deck. (
● First, remove accumulated clipping
deposits in the mowing deck housing
using a stick.
● Clean the underside of the mowing
deck with water and a brush.
● When cleaning the upper side of the
mowing deck, ensure that the V-belt
and toothed belt do not get wet – never
spray water into the openings in the
covers.
● Clean the discharge chute using
running water and a brush when
removed and well away from the
machine.
● Remove grass residues from the
mowing deck (upper and underside),
engine compartment and gearbox.
Clean the cooling ribs of the engine and
gearbox.
● Clean the mowing blades with water
and a brush – under no circumstances
should you hit the mowing blades
(e.g. with a hammer) to loosen dirt.
● Remove the grass catcher box clean
using running water and a brush well
away from the machine. (
14.3 Cleaning the level sensor (grass
catcher box)
The level sensor (grass catcher box) may
become soiled when mowing wet or moist
grass. This results in impaired function.
By way of prevention, clean the level
sensor following each mowing operation or
8.10)
each time the discharge chute is cleaned.
● Stop the engine. (
● Remove the ignition key and keep it in a
13.1)
safe place.
● Engage the parking brake. (
