High Limit Switches
WARNING
■ Do not operate the heater with any of the high
limit switches bypassed.
■ Operating the heater with a bypassed high
limit switch may lead to overheating, possibly
resulting in a fire, with subsequent damage to
the heater or property damage.
This heater is equipped with two auto reset high limit
switches. These are normally closed high limit switches and
are non-adjustable. They are located inside a metal box on
the side of the heater.
NOTE: The rear high limit switch is rated for 125°F and the
front high limit switch is rated for 190°F.

FAN
SWITCH
Both high limit switches should be tested a minimum
of once per year when the heater is given a thorough
cleaning.
1. Remove the high limit switch.
2. Apply a small flame only to the sensing portion on the
back of the switch.
TERMINAL
Be careful not to melt the plastic housing of the switch
when conducting this test.
3. Within a minute, you should hear a soft click,
indicating the contacts of the switch have opened.
4. Perform a continuity check across the switch
terminal to ensure the contact has opened.
5. Once the switch sensing surface have cool down, it
should auto reset.
6. Check for continuity. If the switch does not reset,
replace the limit switch with the appropriate
temperature limit switch.
Fan Switch
The fan switch controls when to operate or shut off the
main motor. The switch is a normal open circuit switch
and is factory set. DO NOT operate the heater with the
FRONT
fan switch bypassed. See High Limit Switches diagram
LIMIT
SWITCH
for fan switch location. There may be some instances
when the adjustment of the fan switch may be required.
When operating the heater in extreme cold temperature
the main fan motor may cycle ON and OFF more
frequently. To reduce the cycling of the main fan motor,
the temperature on the fan switch will need to be reduce.
• Remove the rear limit switch cover to gain access to
the fan switch.
• Adjust the fan switch by turning the fan switch
temperature down.
• The necessary adjustment will depend on the ambient
air temperature.
