5. Troubleshooting guide
Symptom
Pneumatic motor runs
slowly.
Mandrel turns
independent of motor.
Insert will not place
onto Mandrel.
Tool/Blind Rivet Nut is
jammed.
Mandrel Breakage.
Drive screw returns
very slow to forward
position
Stroke adjustment very
hard by hand.
Tools does not spin On.
Trigger 12 inoperative.
Tool does not spin off.

Other symptoms or failures should be reported to your local, authorised distributor or repair centre.

Possible Cause
Air leak from motor.
Low air pressure.
Air way blockage.
Motor Vanes 6M jamming
Worn or damaged Drive Shaft E. Replace.
Worn or damaged Mandrel A.
Chuck Nut 14 is loose.
Incorrect Blind Rivet Nut thread
size.
Incorrect Mandrel A fitted.
Worn or damaged Mandrel A.
Nose equipment incorrectly
assembled.
Excessive stroke.
Excessive pressure.
Defective Blind Rivet Nut or
Mandrel A.
Excessive stroke.
Excessive pressure.
Side load on Mandrel .
Trigger is released early.
Excessive pressure.
Chuck Nut 14 is loose.
No air supply.
Insufficient gap between
Locking Nut 17 and Piston 18A.
Motor Rod 17M too short.
Air Motor jammed.
Static friction.
Low air pressure.
Valve Slider 9 remains stuck.
Chuck Nut 14 is loose.
Trigger 12 released prematurely. Press and hold for entire cycle of tool.
Tool not reaching pressure or
stroke.
Distributor 21A is stuck.
Air Motor jammed.
Remedy
Check for worn seals. Replace.
Increase air pressure.
Clear restriction.
Clean and lubricate.
Replace.
Tighten Chuck Nut 14.
Change to correct size Blind Rivet Nut.
Change to correct size Mandrel.
Replace.
Re-fit nose equipment.
Reduce stroke.
Reduce pressure.
Press Manual Reverse 22.
Alternately use Pin Punch K to manually
remove the Blind Rivet Nut.
Reduce stroke.
Reduce Pressure.
Hold tool square to application.
Ensure trigger is held throughout full
cycle to speed operation up.
Use pin punch (07900-00624) to aid
stroke adjustment.
Tighten Chuck Nut 14.
Connect air supply.
Adjust gap to 1.5mm/2mm.
Replace Motor Rod.
Lubricate tool at air inlet. If insufficient,
dismantle and clean thoroughly.
Depress and hold Trigger 12 a few times.
Increase air pressure.
Depress Trigger 12 several times.
Lubricate tool through air inlet.
If unsuccessful, dismantle, clean and
lubricate trigger components.
Tighten Chuck Nut 14.
Reduce pressure or stroke setting.
Lubricate.
Lubricate tool at air inlet. If insufficient,
dismantle and clean thoroughly.
