Problem
The appliance can-
not be closed.
White smoke comes

Possible cause
The frying basket (1 1)
is overfilled or not in-
serted correctly.
The food is very fatty.
The frying basket (1 1)
still contains oil/fat
residue from a previ-
ous cooking process.
The chips have not
been sufficiently
soaked.
The variety of potato is
unsuitable.
The potatoes are too
moist.
Troubleshooting
 Fill the frying basket (1 1) only up
to the MAX marking (8).
 During preparation, fat from
these extremely fatty foods drips
into the frying basket (1 1). The fat
causes a higher temperature in
the frying basket (1 1) – this does
not impair the appliance or the
cooking result.
 Fat residue is burning in the fry-
ing basket (1 1). Clean the frying
basket (1 1) after every use.
 Place the chips in cold water for
around 30 minutes to remove the
starch. Dry the chips using kitch-
en paper before adding to the
basket.
 Choose a different variety of po-
tato.
 The crispiness is dependent on
the water and starch content of
the variety of potato used and
the quantity of oil.
 Dry the potatoes carefully and
cover them with about 1/2 ta-
blespoon of oil.
 Cut the potatoes into smaller
pieces.
