V. MAINTENANCE AND CARE
A. Maintenance and Care
Regular maintenance and care may help extend the life of your Tyke. During cleaning, component
inspection is recommended. Additional maintenance information is in the Maintenance Interval Table
below.
•
The mobility base must be stored in a dry place. An ambient temperature between 14°F and
104°F (-10°C and +40°C) must be maintained.
•
Tires contain chemical substances that can react with other chemical substances (e.g cleaning
agents, acids).
•
Direct exposure to sunlight or UV radiation causes the tires to age more quickly. As a result, the
tread surface hardens and corner pieces break out of the tread.
•
Avoid unnecessary parking outdoors. The tires should be replaced every 2 years regardless of
wear and tear.

Maintenance Tasks
To ensure smooth operation at all times, you, the caregiver or attendant with technical skills can
maintain some parts of the product:
•
Clean the area between the caster wheel and fork. Lubricate the caster axle with a few drops
of thin, resin-free oil (e.g. sewing machine oil).
•
Periodically lubricate the quick-release axle very lightly with thin, resin-free oil.
•
Periodically lubricate the piston rods of the springs very lightly with thin, resin-free oil.
•
Periodically check all hardware connections. If the same hardware loosens repeatedly,
contact your authorized dealer.
