- Remove the hole plug from the vehicle floor to pass the towbar wiring harness on the left
vehicle side (in the direction of travel) -detail-.
- Pass the harness with the towbar wiring terminal strip through the hole to the vehicle boot.
Caution! Fit the grommet (part of the towbar wiring) into the vehicle
hole to prevent water ingress.
- 12 -
- Attach the harness to the edge of the rear face using the stop clip (G), see Fig. 12 (detail).
- Refit the plastic rear wall cover and the LTE antenna (if included in the equipment) before
attaching the towbar wiring.
- Snap the cable tie with the clip (J) on the tucker (see arrow) on the rear vehicle face (detail).
- 13 -
- Check that the grommet is correctly positioned on the vehicle floor.
- Attach the towbar wiring harness to the vehicle body using clips (F).
- For locations for hardness attachment, see -arrows in detail-.

Control unit
- Insert the control unit (E) into the cover for mounting the control unit (I) as shown. If the
cover for mounting the control unit is not included in the vehicle equipment, insert the cover
first into the opening in the vehicle body and then insert the control unit.
- Connect the towbar wiring terminal block (D) and relevant vehicle wiring terminal block
(preparation for towbar) to the control unit. If the vehicle has no towbar preparation, connect
the terminal blocks of harness 657 055 204 to the control unit. The excess terminal block
for foldable towbar must be insulated using foam and attached to the existing vehicle wiring
harness using cable ties.
Grounding
- Connect the grounding eye of the cable in the towbar wiring harness (A) to the grounding
screw above the wheel cover (see arrow). Tighten the grounding screw nut to 9 Nm.
Re-install all the disassembled parts, tightening the connections to the specified torque
values.

When refitting the rear bumper, the towing arm must be released. After mounting the
rear bumper, the towing arm must be returned to its original position. Check the correct
position of the towing arm and socket inclination (vertically, the socket cover can be
opened without colliding with the bumper). Also check that the wiring harness leading
to the socket does not collide with the edge of the cutout. Tighten the arm bolts to the
prescribed torque of 115 Nm (Fig. 15).
Connect the battery and carry out all the tasks related to the disconnection and re-
connection of the battery.
