Two fine, horizontal lines
appear on the screen.
Built-in damper wires of the CRT.
Moire patterns are present.
Moire patterns appearing on
the screen are caused by
interference of the CRT stripe
pitch and video signal due to
the input signal (resolution),
video pattem, etc.

Black vertical line appears on
the screen.
In an aperture-grille type CRT,
entanglement of adjoining
aperture grilles due to vibration
or shock, etc., during
transportation, can result in black
vertical lines.
This is the sound of the automatic
degauss function. This is not a
failure.
The monitor makes a buzz
sound immediately after the
power is tumed ON.
The lines are caused by shade from steel
"damper wires", a standard feature of aperture-
type CRTs (cathode ray tubes}. In an aperture-
grille type CRT, a series of thin, mild stee! plates
called "aperture grille" are aligned vertically,
resembling a reed screen or bamboo blind.
When the CRT vibrates or is subjected to shock,
adjoining aperture grilles become entangted.
The damper wires are used to prevent the
entanglement of aperture grilles.
Change the desktop pattern or the settings of
vertical / horizontal size to minimize the
conspicuous moire pattems.
Moire patterns are most conspicuous on gray-
tone dasktop patterns (every other dot pattern).
* For details on how to change the desktop
pattem, refer to the user's manual of the
computer in use.
Reorient object or monitor.
Your office may have electric power wiring
behind the wall.
Move the monitor,
Face monitor east for best image quality.
1. Degauss the unit by operating the On-Screen
Display (OSD).
2. Tap the side of the display cabinet with your
hands or a light object.
Waming: Never apply shock to the CRT.
Equipment break down can result in
serious consequences.
3. If the black vertical lines persist,
(1) Display the section of the screen with the
black vertical lines in the window screen,
etc.
(2) Maximize contrast and brightness
adjustment and turn the window screen to
high brightness.
(3) Wait for a moment, tap the side of the
display cabinet with your hands ora
light object.
