5.5 Basic operation
The product has four buttons below the display for the following operations:
• Configuration menus
• Selection of functions and values
• Switching the screen
In default setting, the first press of a button always switches on the background
illumination.
INFO: The display language is English and cannot be changed.
To make settings in the menu, press and hold any arrow button for at least 2 sec-
onds.
If no button is pressed for 2 minutes, the display automatically switches back to
the standard display with the current reading. Unconfirmed settings will not be
applied.
5.6 Configuring the product
Once the power supply has been connected, the product can be configured. The
following details can be defined:
• Measurement units
• Display
• Outputs
Access can subsequently be protected by using a security code. For more infor-
mation on configuration options, refer to the Data and parameters chapter. See
system description.
6 Assembly and installation
Before you start with the installation: Familiarize yourself with the basic specifica-
tions for assembly as early as possible in advance. See
g 6.2 Preparation.
6.1 Planning
6.1.1 Installation conditions
General requirements
• Make sure that the product is installed in a manner that protects it from all
types of mechanical loads.
Product-specific requirements
• Mounting orientation. See
g 13. Technical
• The measuring medium must be at least purity class 3:4:4 or better in accor-
dance with ISO 8573-1:2010.
• The correct reading only comes into effect from the minimum specified flow
rate, especially with horizontal mounting orientation. Due to the measuring
principle and self-heating, the reading may be incorrect below the minimum
specified flow.

and
data.
• In compressed air networks, mount the product downstream of the air dryer.
If there is no air dryer: Install the product downstream of the condensate sep-
arator and suitable filters.
Notes for variant AS-AF2
• Do not mount the product directly downstream of a regulator or filter regula-
tor. Only use the specified filter product variant.
Ambient conditions
• Let the product acclimatize for a few hours before installation. Otherwise wa-
ter may condense in the housing.
• Observe the heat radiation of the measuring medium.
• Keep the installation location free from vibration.
• Protect the product from direct sunlight and UV radiation.
• Make sure that there are no ferromagnetic sources near the product.
• Avoid increased output pressure tolerances: Make sure that high-frequency
radiation from interference-emitting devices is kept away from the product.
6.1.2 Required accessories, materials and tools
Mounting material
For mounting, you can use your own mounting material or AVENTICS mounting
material. Respect dimensions and tightening torques.
Accessory parts
• Only use accessories approved by the manufacturer. See g 14. Accessories.
6.2 Preparation
6.2.1 Notes
• Insulate the wire ends against each other. When the supply voltage is
switched on, there is a risk of short circuits if open wire ends touch each other.
• Wire cross-sections of the supply line provided by the user must be in accor-
dance with IEC 60364-1 and IEC 60364-5-52.
6.2.2 Unpacking and checking the product
1. Check the material number to see if the product matches your order.
2. Check the product for transport and storage damage.
Do not install a damaged product. Return damaged products together with
the delivery documents. See
3. Prepare required accessories, materials and tools.
6.2.3 Implementing safety measures
Procedure
1. Do not carry out any work on the system during preparation.
2. Close off dangerous areas.
3. Make sure the system or system part is not under pressure or voltage.
4. Protect the system against being restarted.
5. Allow product and adjacent system parts to cool down.
6. Wear PPE.
6.3 Installation
6.3.1 Connecting the pneumatic system
Notes
• Comply with the limits (accident prevention, material protection). See
g 13. Technical
data.
• Seal thread connections with suitable sealing materials. Sealing material must
not penetrate into the interior of the sensor (HF variant only).
WARNING! Installation of the product outside the specified process tempera-
ture and/or ambient temperature poses a safety risk due to potential leakage
regardless of the operating state (accident prevention).
Notes for variant AS-AF2
• After installing the product with a block assembly kit or mounting bracket: En-
sure tight screw connection.
• Assembly with mounting bracket: see g Fig. 5.
• Assembly with block assembly kit and air preparation unit: see g Fig. 6.
g 4.3 Returning the
product.
