With the exception of the pre-filter and membrane cartridges as well as potentially the tank from the
accessory portfolio, the PROGUARD Gastronomy system has a limited life-time of FIVE years and
must be replaced after this period.
The pre-filter cartridges have a limited life-time of ONE year maximum and must be replaced
after this period at the latest.
The RO membranes have a limited life-time of TWO years maximum and must be replaced
after this period at the latest.
The tanks from the accessory portfolio have a limited life-time of THREE years maximum and
must be replaced after this period at the latest.
Certain elements of PROGUARD Gastronomy must be checked regularly by a service technician
and/or the end user, e.g. check parameter in display. Failure to follow the recommended measures
of the service technician will void warranty.
A warranty claim may only be asserted if all instructions in this manual are followed and observed.
1.6 Liability Exclusion
The installation of PROGUARD Gastronomy 200 and the replacement of filter cartridges and spare
parts must be performed precisely in accordance with the descriptions in this Installation and Operating
Manual. BRITA shall not be held liable for any damage, including subsequent damage, arising from the
incorrect installation or use of the product. BRITA reserves the right to alter its non-legally prescribed
commitments or any other information provided in this manual without informing any of its customers.
2 Operating and Safety Instructions
Read, understand, and follow all safety information contained in these instructions prior to installation
and use of any PROGUARD Gastronomy 200 component.

To reduce the risk associated with the ingestion of contaminants:
Water used as intake water for PROGUARD Gastronomy 200 must be of drinking water quality
In the case of an official order, for instance from local authorities, to boil tap water, BRITA-filtered water must be boiled
as well. When the requirement to boil water comes to an end, all filter cartridges must be replaced and the PROGUARD
Gastronomy 200 system including all connections and hoses be flushed thoroughly.
It is generally recommended to boil tap water for certain groups of people (e.g. people with weakened immune systems,
babies). This also applies to filtered water.
Installation and maintenance of PROGUARD Gastronomy 200, its refill components and its spare parts MUST be carried out
by specialist staff with an understanding of local and regional regulations/ codes that may affect the installation requirements.
To reduce the risk of physical injury: Shut-off PROGUARD Gastronomy 200 when maintaining or disassembling the unit as
described in chapter 4: Installation

To reduce the risk associated with property damage including but not limited to water leakage:
Read and follow this Installation and Operating Manual before installation and use of this system.
Installation and use MUST comply with all state and local laws and regulations including plumbing regulations/codes.
All parts must be installed in accordance with the country-specific guidelines on the installation of drinking water facilities.
A backflow must be prevented according to EN 1717 at least by backflow preventer Type EA.
The appliance is intended to be permanently connected to the mains water supply.
Take care when using pliers or pipe wrenches to tighten plastic fittings, as damage may occur if overtightening occurs.
Ensure all tubing and fittings are secure and free of leaks.
The pre-filter cartridge MUST be replaced every 12 months or at the rated capacity, whatever comes first, The filtrate conductivity
should be tested periodically to verify that the system is working properly.
PROGUARD Gastronomy contains replaceable components that are critical to the efficiency of the system. Replacement
of the reverse osmosis components MUST be done with the original BRITA PROGUARD Gastronomy refill components
or spare parts defined by the manufacturer, to assure the same efficiency and contaminant reduction performance.
Do not touch the RO system with wet or damp hands.
Do not leave the RO system exposed to atmospheric agents.
Before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance operation, disconnect the RO system from the electricity mains
by taking out the plug from the power outlet.
Regularly clean the outside of the RO system with a soft, damp cloth. Caution: Do not use any abrasive chemicals, cleaning
solutions or astringent cleaning agents.
In event of a fault or poor operation, switch off the RO system and contact an authorized technician.
