• Add-on or modified parts that are not approved by the EPA can not be used.
The use of non-approved add-on or modified parts by the owner will be
grounds for disallowing a warranty claim including forfailures to otherwise
warranted parts caused by the use of a non-exempted add-on or modified part.
Small Stationary Engine Operating Limitations
Your stationary generator is powered by an Engine which is certified to the EPA
nonroad small spark ignition engine standards as referenced and recognized by
EPA "Stationary" Engine regulations. Your "generator" can be locally permitted
as an "Emergency" (or local equivalent) or "Non-Emergency" source. Emergency
Sources usually have less permitting limitations.
When installed and allowed as an "Emergency Stationary Engine," your engine
is eligible for operation for up to 100 hours in Non-Emergency conditions. Non-
Emergency conditions include maintenance and testing and up to 50 of these 100
hours can be in Non-Emergency Conditions as part of a financial arrangement if
the Non-Emergency operation is:
• Allowed in an "Area Source" (most homes and retail establishments qualify).
• Dispatched by the local balancing authority or local transmission and
distribution system operator.
• Intended to mitigate local transmission and/or distribution limitations to avert
possible voltage collapse or line overloads that could result in interruption of
power supply in a local area or region.
• Consistent with reliability, emergency operation or similar protocols NERC,
regional, state, public utility commission or local standards or guidelines.
• Directed to the facility itself or to support the local transmission and distribution
system.
• Identified and recorded to specified FERC, regional, state, public utility
commission or local standards or guidelines that are being obeyed for
dispatching the Emergency Stationary Engines. The local balancing authority
or local transmission and distribution system operator can keep these records
on behalf of the engine owner or operator.
Otherwise, Emergency Stationary Engines usually can not be used to supply power
to an electric grid or supply power as part of a financial arrangement such as peak
shaving, rate curtailment or optimization, interruptible rate programs, continuous base
load (constant power to utility grid or facility, co-generation (capture and use waste
heat), prime or contributory power more than the 50 hours per calendar year.
Emergency operation duration is unlimited and recognized when providing electrical
power during an emergency situation or when electric power from the local utility is
interrupted. Emergency Stationary Engines may not be the primary, default or only
source of power for a facility or sub system.
Your local electricity provider (co-operative, utility, municipality) may offer Non-
Emergency use guidance, operation and programs for participation.
THE OWNER OR OPERATOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CORRECT OPERATION
OF THE STATIONARY ENGINE AND GENERATOR AND CAN BE LIABLE
FOR FEDERAL U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY OR LOCAL
PENALTIES FOR NON-COMPLIANT OPERATION. CONSULT AND FOLLOW LOCAL
PERMITTING AUTHORITIES AND REQUIREMENTS BEFORE ENGAGEMENT
OR OPERATION OF EMERGENCY STATIONARY ENGINES IN ANY FINANCIAL
ARRANGEMENT. YOU WILL VOID ALL WARRANTIES FOR UNAUTHORIZED NON-
EMERGENCY OPERATION.

U.S. EPA, and Briggs & Stratton, LLC Emissions Control Warranty Statement -
Your Warranty Rights and Obligations
For Briggs & Stratton Engine Models with "J" Trim Designation (Model-Type-
Trim Representation xxxxxx xxxx Jx)
The U.S. EPA, and Briggs & Stratton (B&S) are pleased to explain the exhaust
emissions control system warranty on your Model Year 2022-2024 engine. In the U.S,
new small off-road engines and large spark ignited engines less than or equal to 1.0
liter must be designed, built, and equipped to meet stringent anti-smog standards. B&S
must warrant the emissions control system on your engine for the periods of time listed
below provided there has been no abuse, neglect, or improper maintenance of your
engine leading to the failure of the emissions control system.
Your emissions control system may include parts such as the carburetor or fuel-
injection system, the ignition system, catalytic converter, fuel tanks, fuel lines (for liquid
fuel and fuel vapors), fuel caps, valves, canisters, filters, clamps and other associated
components. Also included may be hoses, belts, connectors, and other emission-
related assemblies.
Where a warrantable condition exists, B&S will repair your engine at no cost to you
including diagnosis, parts, and labor.
Manufacturer's Warranty Coverage:
The exhaust emissions control system on your engine is warranted for two years. If any
emissions-related part on your engine is defective, the part will be repaired or replaced
by B&S.
Owner's Warranty Responsibilities:

• As the engine owner, you are responsible for the performance of the required
maintenance listed in your Operator's Manual. B&S recommends that you
retain all receipts covering maintenance on your engine, but B&S cannot deny
warranty coverage solely for the lack of receipts or your failure to ensure the
performance of all scheduled maintenance.
• As the engine owner, you should however be aware that B&S may deny you
warranty coverage if your engine or a part has failed due to abuse, neglect,
improper maintenance, or unapproved modifications.
• You are responsible for presenting your engine to a B&S distribution center,
or service center, as soon as a problem exists. The warranty repairs should
be completed in a reasonable amount of time, not to exceed 30 days. If you
have a question regarding your warranty rights and responsibilities, you should

Briggs & Stratton Emissions Control Warranty Provisions
The following are specific provisions relative to your Emissions Control Warranty
Coverage. It is in addition to the B&S engine warranty for non-regulated engines found
in the Operator's Manual.

Coverage under this warranty extends only to the parts listed below (the emissions
control systems parts) to the extent these parts were present on the B&S engine.

• Intake manifold
c. Ignition System
