III.
III.1. Introduction
1. The purchaser is responsible for the installation of the water heater.
2. The manufacturer does not accept any liability for damage caused by an installation that has not been
performed in accordance with regulations or by failure to comply with applicable standards or the
stipulations of this manual.
3. The user is responsible for ensuring that the appliance is recycled when it reaches the end of its lifetime.
Please refer to the introduction, section I.1.Instructions relating to transport, storage, and recycling.
III.2. Usage recommendations
III.2.1. Temperature regulation
In order to reduce scaling and the risk of burns, we recommend that you do not set the thermostat to its maximum
setting. However, it is important to find a happy medium in order to avoid the risk of bacterial growth while trying to
avoid the unnecessary scaling of the water heater.
In addition, to prevent burns, install suitable mixer taps to ensure that the water temperature does not exceed 50°C
at the drawing points and 60°C in the kitchen.
This measure is obligatory in France.
Assuming the use of a mixer tap at the drawing points, we recommend that you regulate the temperature to
around 60°C.
Recommendations for preventing the growth of Legionella (based on the European standard CEN/TR 16335)
Information notice
Legionella bacteria are small, rod-shaped bacteria that occur naturally in freshwater. Legionnaires' Disease is a serious lung
infection that you can catch by inhaling the Legionella pneumophila bacteria or other Legionella species. These bacteria are
often found in water installations in houses and hotels as well as in the water used in air conditioning units or air chilling
systems. This is why the main measure for fighting the disease lies in prevention achieved by controlling the presence of the
organism in water installations.
The European standard CEN/TR 16355 provides recommendations about the best way of preventing the growth of Legionella in
drinking water installations whilst maintain the applicability of provisions that exist at national level.
General recommendations
"Conditions for Legionella growth": The following conditions encourage Legionella growth:
•
A water temperature of between 25°C and 50°C. To reduce the growth of bacteria of the Legionella genre, the
temperature of the water must remain between the limit values that prevent their growth or that enable only minimal
growth, where possible. Otherwise, the drinking water installation must be purified using a heat treatment.
