2.1 Checkout procedures
Before each use, check that the speaking valve and HME cassette are undamaged
and that the speaking valve functions as intended. It should easily turn into the
locked mode and automatic speaking mode (Fig. 2). If the device does not function
as intended or seems damaged, do not use the device and get a replacement.
2.2 Operating instruction

Membrane strength selection
this membrane during normal breathing or light activity, try the Strong membrane
(3 dots). If you feel it takes too much effort to close the Medium membrane for
speaking, try the Light membrane (1 dot). Make sure the membrane does not
close unintentionally during regular breathing.
You can also use a stronger membrane when you are more active and a lighter
one when you are less active.
Assembly
Place the HME cassette
foam surface up (Fig. 10). Place the speaking valve on top of the HME cassette
and push it straight down until it clicks in place. Check that the speaking valve
HME cassette.
Caution: Use of non-Provox accessories may cause product malfunction and
harm to the user.
Insertion and usage
Insert the Provox FreeHands FlexiVoice into the connector of the Provox HME
attachment device (Fig. 11). Breathe normally. Switch the device between the
modes by rotating the top of the speaking valve until it stops in each position
(Fig. 12).
Caution: Rotate only the top of the speaking valve when changing modes, not
the entire device. Rotating the entire device can cause uncomfortable movement
of the attachment device.
Automatic Speaking Mode
The Provox FreeHands FlexiVoice is in Automatic Speaking Mode when the

Manual Occlusion
The Provox FreeHands FlexiVoice can also be manually occluded for speaking
