11. What is described in the previous points is useful for nasal douching using saline solutions.
It is advisable to carry out the drug treatment after initial washing with saline solution to
n
achieve a more effective distribution of the drug on the nasal mucous membranes.
12. When application is over, switch off the machine and carry out cleaning following the
instructions in paragraph Hygienic preparation.
HYGIENIC PREPARATION
Disassemble the Nasal Douche as shown in the connection diagram.
Then proceed according to the instructions below.
Sanitisation
Before and after each use, sanitise the components, choosing one of the methods described below.
method A: sanitise the components under warm drinking water (approx. 40°C) with mild dish-
washing detergent (non-abrasive).
method B: sanitise the components in a dishwasher on a hot cycle.
method C: sanitise the components by soaking in a solution of 50% water and 50% white vinegar,
then rinse thoroughly with warm drinking water (approx. 40°C).
If you also wish to carry out cleaning by DISINFECTION, skip to the DISINFECTION section.
After sanitising the components, shake them vigorously and place them on a paper towel, or
alternatively dry them with a hot air jet (e.g. hair dryer).
Disinfection
After sanitising the components, disinfect them using one of the methods described below.
method A: purchase an electrolytic chloride disinfectant (active ingredient: sodium hypochlorite),
es-
specifically for disinfection, available at all chemists' .
Execution:
- Fill a container of a suitable size to hold all the individual components to be disinfected with a
solution of drinking water and disinfectant, complying with the proportions indicated on the
packaging of the disinfectant.
- Completely immerse each individual component in the solution, taking care to prevent any air
he
bubbles from forming in contact with the components. Leave the components immersed for the
ost
period of time indicated on the disinfectant packaging, and associated with the concentration
chosen for the preparation of the solution.
em
- Retrieve the disinfected components and rinse them thoroughly with lukewarm drinking water.
- Dispose of the solution according to the disinfectant manufacturer's instructions.
m-
method B: disinfect the components by boiling them in water for 20 minutes; use demineralised
or distilled water to prevent hard water deposits.
method C: disinfect the components in a hot bottle steriliser (not microwave). Carry out the
he
process strictly according to the hot bottle steriliser's instructions. For disinfection to be effective,
la-
choose a steriliser with an operating cycle of at least 6 minutes.
tly
After disinfecting the components, shake them vigorously and place them on a paper towel, or
alternatively dry them with a hot air jet (e.g. hair dryer).
