Cause
The portafilter has been wrongly inserted or

Too much coffee has been placed in the filter
The preground coffee is not tamped firmly
enough
There is not enough preground coffee
The preground coffee is too coarse
The wrong type of preground coffee is being used
The preground coffee is tamped too firmly
There is not enough preground coffee
The espresso coffee spout (A7) is blocked
The cup filter (A15), (A15a), (A16) or (A16a)
is blocked
The preground coffee is too fine
The preground coffee is too fine or damp
Air in the hydraulic circuit
No water in the water tank (A2) or no water
tank in the machine
Milk not cold enough
If you are in "manual steaming", the steaming
procedure may be wrong
Nozzle is dirty
Limescale in the water circuit
Nozzle is blocked/dirty
Water tank is dirty
Descaling is required
Solution
Attach the portafilter correctly and rotate firmly as
far as it will go
Rinse the filters under running water
Clean the coffee spout gasket. Have the coffee spout
gasket replaced by Customer Service
Use the supplied measuring scoop (A18) and make sure to
use the correct filter for the type of preparation
Tamp the preground coffee more firmly
Increase the quantity of preground coffee
Use only preground coffee for espresso coffee makers
Change the type of preground coffee
Tamp the coffee less firmly
Reduce the quantity of preground coffee
Clean the coffee spout
Clean the cup filter
Use only preground coffee for espresso coffee makers
Use only preground coffee for espresso coffee makers
and make sure it is not too damp
Insert the portafilter (A14) again, deliver coffee, then
remove the portafilter
Check the position of the water tank and presence
of water.
Press the Espresso button (B6) and wait until delivery
in the drip tray stops
Fill the tank with water or insert the water tank
Disconnect the machine immediately and contact an
authorized Customer Service center.
Always use refrigerated milk
