Does my device need an updated
firmware?
To check if your device can benefit from the update, please check the serial
on the main unit or the product box. Only devices described in the section
"How to check device version number?" require the update. If your serial
number has a different number to those highlighted, you will not need to
apply the update.
What changes are included in the update?
• Resolving the problem that prevented certain CD formats from playing.
How to check device version number?
Locate the product serial number label at the back of your device or on the
product box, it should look like this:
XL-B720DBKV0160043330500001
XL-B520DBKV0160029820800001
If this section in your product serial number contains the following
numbers in characters 13-18, then your device will benefit from the
update:
For XL-B520D(BK): 600298, 600584, 600668 & 600760.
For XL-B720D(BK): 600433
If the product serial has a different number in characters 13-18, then your
device won't benefit from the update.
How to prepare USB flash drive?
• Prepare empty USB flash drive, (capacity= 32GB max, file format= FAT32).
• Download the firmware file from the download section on either of
these links: "https://www.sharpconsumer.pl/audio/xlb520dbk/"
or "https://www.sharpconsumer.pl/audio/xlb720dbk/"
• Ensure the downloaded file name is "XL-B520D and XL-B720D Software
update".
• Unzip the file and copy extracted file to the root directory of your USB
flash drive.
Ensure that USB flash drive has two files in total.
1. CDCombo.bin
2. Update.mp3
How to upgrade the firmware?
1. If the radio is connected to power, please unplug it first.
2. Make sure that there are only two files on the USB flash drive. Insert the
USB flash drive into the USB port on the back of the radio.

3. Connect radio to power by inserting DC jack on the back of the unit.
4. Press
to turn device on.
5. Change the source to "CD".
6. If audio starts playing quickly press

8. The device will start the upgrade process. DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTON
FOR UP TO 1 MINUTE.
9. The upgrade process will end when radio displays "Reading" on screen.
10. Remove the DC power plug

12. You can now safely once again power on your device by inserting the
DC power plug into the power input on the back of the radio.
13. The software upgrade is now complete.
IMPORTANT:
Please DO NOT turn off the power or remove the USB flash drive while the
unit is updating.
How to check the firmware version?
1. Connect radio to power.
2. Switch on the radio.
3. Change mode to USB.
4. Press and hold for 2 seconds.
5. Radio will display: "CD version:V08".
