The EV-DW4927SS is a flexible, supervised, multi function wireless door/window contact with integral shock sensor. The door/
window contact and shock sensor can operate independently.
The EV-DW4927SS includes the industry's first prewarn detection system to help thwart potential thieves by audibly warning them
of the alarm system presence before serious damage can occur. The device can act as prewarn system, door/window contact and
shock sensor. The prewarn feature and annunciation is a local warning only. It does not transmit a signal to the Central Station and
does not require a response.

Installation
1. Select Operating Mode: Remove the cover by
pressing on the end notch. Ensure that the jumpers
1, 2 and 3 are as follows:
JP1: ON - Disable sensitivity test mode.
OFF - Enable sensitivity test mode.
Note: Sensitivity test mode is used only during
the initial installation of the shock sensor.
JP2: ON - Enable pre-alarm detection (not used on
UL listed installations).
OFF - Disable pre-alarm detection.
JP3: ON - Reed Switch enabled.
OFF - Reed Switch disabled (not used on
UL listed installations).
2. Install Battery: Use care when installing the bat-
tery and observe the correct polarity (see Figure A).
Use only the Panasonic CR123A lithium battery.
3. Position Transmitter: Select a location to mount the EV-DW4927SS.
Note: RF signals can be affected by metal objects, including metal doors or large mirrors. Ensure that these types of objects
are not located between the device and the receiver.
4. Enrolling, Programming and Placement: Enroll the EV-DW4927SS by programming the 6-digit serial number
(located on the EV-DW4927SS) into the receiver. Once the EV-DW4927SS is enrolled, perform a module placement test to
ensure the location you have chosen is suitable. The following outlines the basic steps for programming and enrolling this device
on PowerSeries receivers. For additional options or for other receivers, please refer to the specific receiver installation manuals.
Step 1: Program electronic serial number (ESN) - Section [804], subsections [01] - [32]
[01] Zone 1... [32] Zone 32. Enter the 6-digit ESN, located on the back of the device into the next available zone slot.
Step 2: Program zone definition - Section [001] - [004]
Define corresponding zone with appropriate zone type [e.g., Delay (01), Instant (03), etc.]
Step 3: Enable wireless zone attribute - Section [101] - [132]
Turn Option [8] ON (wireless zone attribute) in the corresponding zone attribute section.
Note:All wireless devices must be tested for good signal strength from their final mounting positions.
Step 4: Module placement test - Section
[904], subsections [01] - [32]
Open and close the contact by moving the
magnet away from the EV-DW4927SS. The
panel will indicate the test result through the
siren (and also through the keypad):
1 bell squawk/beep on LCD keypad/LED 1 on
LED keypad indicates GOOD placement
3 bell squawks/beeps on LCD keypad/LED 3 on
LED keypad indicates BAD placement
If the transmitter tests BAD, move the transmitter and repeat the placement test.
5. Mounting the EV-DW4927SS
Mounting the EV-DW4927SS in Reed Switch Mode
• Place the mounting bracket in the position determined during the Enrolling, Programming Placement step. Secure the
bracket to the door frame using the two screws provided. See Figure B.
• "Snap" the sensor in place.
• To release bracket: Remove the front cover. Push the tab (see Figure B) with a small screwdriver and slide the
EV-DW4927SS down.
• Align one end of the magnet with the notch on the side of the EV-DW4927SS housing. See Figure A.
1
• Mount the magnet a maximum of
/
" (1.27cm) from the EV-DW4927SS using the screws provided. If necessary, use
2
the spacers provided. See Figure C.
• Mount magnet: Open and close the door/window to ensure that there is no interference.

Note: Only one magnet can be used for each EV-DW4927SS. Install the contact so that a door or window cannot be
opened more than 2" (5.1cm) without causing an alarm condition.
Mounting the EV-DW4927SS as Shock Sensor
Assess the best mounting position for the EV-DW4927SS based on the desired level of protection. Install the device in
accordance with the guidelines presented in this manual. For UL/ULC listed installations, use only the mounting screws
provided. The device is intended to be installed on doors with or without glass inserts and on window frames (see Figures D and
E) but not on the actual glass surface. Adjust the shock sensitivity setting at the final mounting position.
Test shock sensitivity by removing Jumper JP1 (enable test mode) and doing the following:
-
MAGNETIC
a. A short beep and green light will flash when the unit detects a prewarn threshold. A long beep and red light will flash when

the unit detects a shock level strong enough to trigger an alarm at the control panel. Please note that no RF transmission occurs
during sensitivity test mode.
b. Test the sensitivity of the unit by gently hitting (using the palm of your hand) the surface on which the device is installed.
Gradually increase the pressure until the desired response is obtained. Ensure that the device is not triggered by accidental vibra-

tion (e.g., wind, birds, insects) hitting the protected window or surface. Normal traffic or operation of the door/window should
not trip the shock sensor. When testing the sensitivity of the unit, do not cause stress or damage to the mounting surface or to
the glass.

to glass inserts or windows.
c. Replace jumper JP1 (disable test mode) once shock sensitivity has been set to the desired level. Verify that the device prop-

erly communicates with the compatible wireless receiver.
6. Testing: Verify sensor operation, tamper operation and supervisory operation. These features are explained below.
EV-DW4927SS operation:
• Tamper Switch: The EV-DW4927SS comes equipped with case tamper detection. If the cover is removed, the
EV-DW4927SS will report a zone tamper to the control panel.
• Supervision: The EV-DW4927SS sends a periodic supervisory transmission to the panel. If the panel fails to receive
a transmission within the preprogrammed period (refer to receiver manual for supervisory window), a fault is indicated
on the keypad.
• Low-Battery LED Indicator: The EV-DW4927SS includes a low-battery LED indicator. The indicator flashes at 10
second intervals when a low battery condition is detected and transmitted to panel. This will provide visual identifica-
tion of the unit that requires a battery change.

• Battery Replacement: The EV-DW4927SS requires one CR123A lithium battery. To replace the battery, remove
the cover by pressing on the end and lifting it up. Use care when installing the battery and observe the correct polarity.
Caution: The battery used in this device may present a fire or chemical burn hazard if mistreated. Do not recharge,
disassemble, heat above 100°C (212°F) or dispose of in fire. Replace battery with Panasonic CR123A only. Use of

Do not disposed of the waste battery as unsorted municipal waste. Consult your local rules
and/or laws/regulations regarding recycling. Some of the materials that are found within
the battery could become toxic if not disposed of properly and may affect the environment.
To Disable Prewarn Detection
If you wish to disable the prewarn beeps simply follow the steps below: 1) Open case; 2) Locate and remove jumper #2.
WARNING: Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's
authority to operate the equipment.
This equipment shall be installed by Service Persons only (service person is defined as a person having the appropriate technical
training and experience necessary to be aware of hazards to which that person may be exposed in performing a task and of
measures to minimize the risks to that person or other persons). It shall be installed and used within an environment that
provides the pollution degree max 2, over voltages category II, in non-hazardous, indoor locations only.
