NOTE
The vibration emission level given in this information sheet has been measured in
accordance with a standardised test given in EN 60745 and may be used to compare
one tool with another. It may be used for a preliminary assessment of exposure. The
declared vibration emission level represents the main applications of the tool. Howe-
ver if the tool is used for different applications, with different accessories or poorly
maintained, the vibration emission may differ. This may significantly increase the expo-
sure level over the total working period. An estimation of the level of exposure to vibra-
tion should also take into account the times when the tool is switched off or when it is
running but not actually doing the job. This may significantly reduce the exposure level
over the total working period. Identify additional safety measures to protect the ope-
rator from the effects of vibration such as: maintain the tool and the accessories, keep
the hands warm, organisation of work patterns.

3. Safety instructions

The following instructions must be
observed. Incorrect operation may pre-
sent a risk of damage or injury.
Never operate the machine in a damp envi-
ronment. The machine must not be allowed
to become damp.
Wear a dust mask and safety goggles when
sanding materials that produce dust hazardous
to health. Contact with and inhalation of harm-
ful or toxic substances originating from the
sanding of materials such as coatings con-
taining lead or from certain types of wood or
metals presents a hazard to the operator of
the electric tool and to other persons in the
vicinity. Do not sand or cut materials con-
taining asbestos. Do not use the sander in
rooms or areas where there is a risk of explo-
sion.
The use of accessories not designed
for this machine may cause dama-
ge to it and increase the risk of acci-
dents.
Note: Observe the safety precautions.
Do not use this orbital finishing sander
in any way other than as described in these
operating instructions.
Use the sander for dry sanding only.
Always guide the supply cord away to the
rear of the machine.
Always use both hands to guide the
2
machine.
2
Do not touch the sanding sheet or the sand-
ing plate while the machine is in operation.
In order to achieve good sanding perform-
ance and to ease the load on the machine,
ensure that the sanding sheets used are in
good condition.
Trouble-free operation of the machine can
be ensured only when Hilti original acces-
sories are used.
