Instructions for use and maintenance SATA air star C
A
Visual examination expiration membrane:
Remove mask cap from the mask. Grasp the edge of the expiration mem-
brane and pull out. Check valve seat for contamination and damages, if
necessary clean. Press the examined expiration membrane into the valve
seat until it engages. The membrane should lie evenly and flat. Ensure that
the membranes do not stick to the valve seat. The membranes must be
replaced every two years at the latest.
Completing the half-mask
Arrange the head bands, attach the mask cap to the mask body by first connecting it to
the nose area, and then by pressed firmly on the expiration air valve area until it engages
completely. Attention: Do not press against the thin bars of the exhalation valve. Risk of
breakage! Check headbands for free movement after unlacing.
5.2.3 Other verification (see illustration on page 1)
- Check service life of the filter cartridge (D)
- Check the control valve (G) for smooth action.
- Check the volumetric air flow rate indicator (K) for damage.
- Check the performance of the compressed-air filter (B).
If necessary, clean the sinter filter and replace the fine filter cartridge
(see Operating Instructions SATA filter 400).
6. Remarks concerning application
Warning: On account of their specific design, compressed-air hose respirators with half
mask for respiratory protection must not be used in a poisonous ambient atmosphere in
which oxygen deficiency prevails or in which the maximum workplace concentration value
(MAK and TRK) is exceeded 100-fold.
- The air supply for the respirator is independent of individual requirements. The actual
respiratory air requirements of the mask wearer can be individually adjusted with the con-
trol valve (H).
- The respirator must only be operated with the approved compressed-air supply hose (max.
lenght 10 m) with safety rapid-action coupler (e.g. SATA Art. No. 49080, 6 m)
Warning: To disconnect the safety rapid-action coupler simply depress the coupling nipple
into the coupler and simultaneously push back the sliding sleeve.
- Always ensure that the sucked-in compressor air is not contaminated by ambient conditi-
ons such as the exhaust gases of combustion engines, the flue gases of heaters, solvent
vapours, etc., and that it complies with DIN EN12021.
Warning:
- During extremely high work performance, the peak inhalation pressure inside the half
mask can become negative
