FAQ
Question: I have purchased a new liner and have noticed
increased formation of sweat for a few weeks. What can I do
to prevent this?
In the first weeks, heavy perspiration may occur. Therefore, the liner
should be cleaned several times a day. It is also advisable to have a
replacement liner at the ready.
If these measures do not bring a positive change, there are various
causes that must be considered. A poor fit, the inclusion of deep
scars or donning the liner incorrectly can all lead to air inclusions,
which can promote heavy perspiration. Another main reason can be
the wrong choice of liner material. Ask your prosthetist for advice,
so that your individual causes can be determined and your liner will
not be damaged.
Question: There are red stripes on my skin at the level of the
edge of the liner. What is the reason for this and what can I
do against it?
Red stripes mostly appear in connection with silicone liners.
Silicone has high adhesive properties on the skin. This can appear
particularly in areas where the liner moves a lot on the skin, e.g. on
the kneecap or at the edge of the liner.
If you have similar problems, please contact your prosthetist.
