Installing the electrical kit
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the spare wheel.
3. If necessary, remove the following coverings and panels:
In the luggage trunk
Covering of luggage trunk bottom
-
Covering of the rear end plate
-
Right-hand and left-hand side covering
-
Inside the vehicle
Access strips, left side
-
Lower dashboard covering
-
Lower A-pillar covering
4. Drill a hole of 39 mm for the cable leadthrough (Fig. 1/10) through the rear end plate on the
left-hand side of the spare wheel well in a suitable flat place.
5. Starting in the luggage trunk, lead the socket end of the cable harness through the cable
leadthrough to the outside and from there to the socket holder plate (Fig. 1/9).
6. Insert the rubber grommet into the cable leadthrough (Fig. 1/10).
Socket installation
7. Press the contact insert into the socket housing and push the rubber grommet towards the
socket.
8. Screw the socket onto the socket holder plate (Fig. 1/9) using the supplied screws and nuts.
Connecting the tail lights
9. Lay the cable ends with the green and black cable to the back-up light (Fig. 1/11) and the
grey and black cable to the rear fog light (Fig. 1/7).
10. Disconnect the plugs and connect it to the appropriate counterparts of the cable harness.
Make sure that the plugs lock firmly into place.
11. Lay the cable end marked "left" to the left-hand tail light (Fig. 1/4) and the cable end marked
"right" along the rear end plate to the right-hand tail light (Fig. 1/12).
12. Disconnect the plug-in connector of the tail light and connect it to the matching counterparts
on the cable harness. Make sure that the plugs lock firmly into place.
13. Connect the black wires with the eyelet to the vehicle's ground point (Fig. 1/5).
Connecting the trailer control module
14. Plug the 12-pin and the 18-pin plugs into the trailer control module (Fig. 1/8).
15. Secure the trailer control module in the left-hand area of vehicle's rear using some Velcro-
tape.
Connecting the power supply
Power is picked up directly from the constant plus (+30) of the battery.
16. Lay the red cable on the left side along the vehicle's cable harness to the front into the engine
compartment. Lay the cable as shown in the vehicle drawing (Fig. 1, 4,5,6).
17. Push the cable through the cable leadthrough (Fig. 1/3). Make sure that the cable is securely
fastened.
18. Let the quick-connect receptacle of the red/blue cable of the cable harness and the individual
red cable lock into place in the fuse holder (Fig. 2). Close the secondary latch.
