5.3 Lamp Replacement

The Leica BM E utilizes a 7 watt fluorescent lamp with
a life expectancy of 10,000 hours or a 12 watt tungsten-halo-
gen lamp with a life expectancy of 2,000 hours. When replacement
is necessary contact a qualified service technician.
CAUTION : The glass envelope of the lamp may be extre-
mely hot. Do not attempt to change the lamp before it is
completely cooled or without wearing adequate skin protection.
The glass should not be handled with bare hands. If the lamp is
touched with bare hands clean the surface with a lens tissue and
methanol prior to installation.

5.4 Electrical Considerations / Equipment Ratings

CAUTION: As a safety precaution, the power cord has been
grounded to the microscope base. Never use an adapter
between the power cord and the power source; it will render the
grounding feature ineffective.
CAUTION: Risk of electric shock. Removal of the bottom
cover of the microscope exposes hazardous voltages,
which if contacted, could cause injury or death. Please refer ser-
vicing to a qualified service technician.

7.0 Anti-Fungus / Mold
Warranty
Fungus and mold are more likely to grow on optical surfaces
in high temperature and high humidity regions. The standard
anti-reflective optical coatings used on the DM E, CM E and
BM E microscopes protect the optical surfaces from these
climatic conditions. Microscopy products from Leica Micro-
systems have a history of performing well for long periods of
time without fungus growth. This confidence allows us to in-
clude growth of fungus in your standard Warranty for DM E,
CM E and BM E.
8.0 Notes
Leica assures the quality of our instruments to be free of all faults
in material and manufacturing. We do not, however, cover dama-
ge resulting from improper or careless handling. Contact your Leica
representative for more information.
