• Loosen the M5 locking screw of the 3-arm socket adapter and remove the screwed in adapter.
• Isolate the inner thread of the 3-arm socket adapter with oil and screw in the supplied dummy. Re-tighten the
M5 locking screw of the 3-arm socket adapter to 10 Nm. Fill the space of the 3-arm socket adapter, the screw
nhead and free thread points with Plastelin.
• Laminate the 3-arm socket adapter according to the individual requirements of the patient with sufficient
carbon and glass fibres.
• After lamination, open the M5 locking screw of the 3-arm socket adapter and remove the screwed in dummy
and any residues of resin and Plastelin.
• Complete the assembly by now screwing the adapter with external thread onto the internal thread of the 3-arm
socket adapter.
• Use a torque wrench (5 mm Allen key) to tighten the M5 locking screw of the 3-arm socket adapter to 10 Nm
and secure with Loctite.
• Slide the washers (27 & 28) over the 29 mm central screw (30), insert this into the central opening of the head
of the joint (26) and tighten the adapter with external thread (33) to 35 Nm.
• Use a torque wrench (8 mm Allen key) and secure the central screw (30) with Loctite.
NOTE: Never mix up the central screws! The pyramid adapter must be screwed on tightly with the 40 mm long
central screw (29), the lamination plate and the adapter with external thread must be screwed on tightly with the
29 mm long central screw (30) and the IKF adapter must be screwed on tightly with the 27 mm long central screw
(31). Safety relevant!
ADJUSTMENT
• The knee joints OP5 Knee and KP5 Knee are supplied factory-adjusted to a functional basic setting.
• Begin by carefully testing the swing phase of the joint with the user performing the dynamic gait test and check
whether this basic setting matches the needs of your user. If not, please proceed as follows.
Swing phase control
The pneumatics is supplied in a basic setting in which both valves are each opened two rotations. You can adjust
this basic setting to match the individual gait pattern.
In order to achieve an acceptable walking image, first adjust flexion. The gait pattern can then be harmonised via
the extension.
Too much f lexion
Using a 3 mm Allen key, turn the flexion valve to the right. (f ig. 3)
Too little f lexion
Using a 3 mm Allen key, turn the flexion value to the left. (f ig. 4)
Extension impact too hard
Using a 3 mm Allen key, turn the extension valve to the right. (f ig. 5)
Extension too slow
Using a 3 mm Allen key, turn the extension valve to the left. (f ig. 6)
Note: The extension must never be damped to such an extent that full extension is not achievable!

SAFETY WARNINGS

• The adapters used (e.g. tube adapter) for the lower connection must be inserted as far as the end stop in the
tube receiver of the knee joint.
• The screw (9) of the tube receiver (8) must be tightened to 16 Nm and secured with Loctite. Use a torque
wrench (5 mm Allen key).
• The central screws (29, 30, 31) must be tightened to 35 Nm and secured with Loctite. Use a torque wrench (8
mm Allen key).
• The M5 locking screw of the 3-arm socket adapter must be tightened to 10 Nm and secured with Loctite. Use a
torque wrench (5 mm Allen key).
