k) Clean the chimney at least once a year.
The most effective way of cleaning chimney flues is by using suitable
chimney brushes. There are chemical products that help delay the need for
classic brush cleaning.
The brushes must be as tight fitting as possible to the chimney diameter.
l) The joints of the tubes forming the chimney, in the event of using
simple metal tubes, must be sealed using refractory filler.
m) The exterior metal chimneys must be built with special double
heat-resistant tubes for solid fuel.
B.- GENERAL PROCEDURES (SAFETY).
A number of possible risks may arise when operating your oven with
a solid fuel fireplace with fuel of any brand. The said risks can be
minimised if the instructions and recommendations included in this manual
are followed.
Below, we shall provide some rules and advice but, above all else, we
recommend common sense.
1.- Do not heat your oven excessively for long periods of time.
2.- Keep any combustible material (furniture, curtains, clothes...)
away from fireplace, at a safety distance (C.- DISTANCES FROM
COMBUSTIBLE SURFACES)
3.- Ash should be emptied into a metal container and immediately
removed from the house.
4.- Do not use flammable liquids to light the oven. Keep any type of
flammable liquid (petrol, gasoline, alcohol,....) at a distance from the
fireplace.
