technician, following the procedure
specified below
The magnesium anode (or sacrificial anode)
prevents
any
eddy
generated inside the boiler from triggering surface
corrosion.
Magnesium is a metal with lower potential
compared with the cladding material on the inside
of the boiler, meaning it attracts the negative
charges that form when heating water first, and is
consumed in this way. The anode therefore
"sacrifices" itself by being subject to corrosion
instead of the tank. The boiler has two anodes, one
irreplaceable, fitted on the lower part of the tank,
and one replaceable, fitted on the upper part of
the tank (area most subject to corrosion). To check
the replaceable anode, empty the water from the
boiler (see section 8.5).
To check or replace the sacrificial anode, remove
the lower panel (Fig. 15).
After removing the lower panel, disconnect the 4
electrical connectors on the electronic control
unit. Once the panel has been removed, use a
suitable tool to unscrew the anode anticlockwise
and remove the old gasket (Fig. 17).
Check the condition of the component. If there
are considerable signs of corrosion such as to
affect operation (reduction in diameter, cavities,
reduction in length), replace the anode, making
sure to also replace the gasket both when
checking and replacing the anode (Fig. 17).
Once the anode has been checked or replaced,
refit the hydraulic pipes (removed previously to
empty the boiler) and refill and pressurise the boiler
so as to ensure there are no leakages where the
maintenance work was performed.
Once the checks are complete, reassemble the
appliance, following the instructions in this section
in reverse order.

In particular, once the aesthetic parts of
the boiler have been removed, the
evaporator can be cleaned thoroughly
(see section 3) using a soft-bristled brush,
taking care not to damage the aluminium
fins. The condensate outlet pipe can also
be checked for dirt deposits.
These minor interventions ensure that the
