CHECKING THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL
MIN
MIN
MAX
If the brake liquid is insufficient, air bubbles may form in the braking
system thus impairing the effectiveness of the brake. Before
starting, make sure the brake liquid level of the rear brake reservoir
is above the minimum level mark. As far as the front brake is
concerned, the level of liquid can be checked throught the sight
glass on the pump; replenish if necessary. Observe the following
precautions:
PERIODIC MAINTENANCE AND MINOR REPAIR
•
When checking the level of liquid, turn the handlebar and
make sure that the reference line of the sight glass is
horizontal.
• Use only recommended brake fluids, otherwise the rubber
seals may deteriorate, causing leakage and poor braking
perfomance.
• Recommended brake fluid: DOT 4
Refill with the same make of brake fluid. Mixing fluids may result
in a harmful chemical reaction and lead to poor braking perform-
ance.
When adding fluid, be careful that water does not enter the reser-
voir. Water will significantly lower the boiling point of the fluid, and
may result in vapour lock.
Brake fluid may deteriorate painted surfaces or plastic parts.
Always clean up spilled fluid immediately.
CHANGING THE BRAKE FLUID
If the brake fluid goes down suddenly, have a
perform the necessary checks.
Have the brake fluid changed by a MALAGUTI Dealer. Also have
the following components replaced by a MALAGUTI Dealer during
periodic maintenance or when damages or leakage are noted:
- internal components of the brake, master cylinder and caliper
(every two years)
- brake hoses (every four years)
