5. To ensure a good seal against the facepiece, tighten each cartridge by gripping as
much of the circumference of the cartridge as possible and slowly turning the cartridge
approximately 1/4 turn until tight.
Note: Threaded metal cartridges must be used with the Advantage
Cartridges (PN 809999). Follow the instructions provided with the adapter for proper
installation.
If filters or cartridges were used in an application that produces sparks,
ensure that the filter surface is free of burn marks or holes.
TO REPLACE PREFILTERS:
1. Replace prefilters with caution to prevent damage.
2. Remove prefilter covers and discard used prefilter.
3. Replace with a prefilters into each prefilter cover; never load filters directly into
receptacles.
TEST FOR A GOOD SEAL (FIT CHECK)
Test before each use.
Place your palms over cartridges lightly. Gently inhale so that the
facepiece collapses slightly and hold breath for ten seconds. The
facepiece will remain collapsed while the breath is held unless there is a
leak in the seal.
If leakage is detected around the facial seal, doff and re-don the respirator
(See figures 1 to 6). Repeat fit check until there is no leakage. If other than facial seal leakage is
detected, the condition must be investigated and corrected before testing again. The respirator
user must pass a fit test before use.

DONNING AND USE
MSA recommends doffing the respirator before connecting
cartridges.
R emove the expended cartridges by turning counterclockwise.
Dispose of properly.
Remove the replacement cartridges from the original sealed
packaging.
Carefully line up match-mark on cartridge with small lug on the
facepiece connector. Ensure cartridge connector lugs align with the
cartridge opening. Push down and turn cartridge clockwise until the
stops are engaged.
