Epico ROM
Dear Patient!
Your doctor has prescribed the elbow orthosis
Epico ROM for you. Please read through these
instructions carefully to help you put the
orthosis on.
Indications
•
Conservative treatment for dislocation of the
elbow with associated injury
•
Orthotic care for fractures of the medial or
lateral epicondyles
• Postoperative treatment following implantation
of prostheses
• Functional aftercare following stable fractures
of the distal humerus
• Temporary immobilisation after arthrolysis of
the elbow joint
Contraindications
None known to date.
Fitting instructions
• Open all the Velcro straps and put the brace on
so that its joint lies directly over the lateral
epicondyle. The plastic casts and pads can be
trimmed to size with scissors if necessary.
• First fasten the upper forearm strap and then
the lower humerus strap. Then fasten the lower
forearm strap and the upper humerus strap.
• Guide one end of the neck strap through the
ring on the arm cuff and fasten the Velcro.
•
Pass the other end over your shoulder, guide it
through the ring on the hand rest, and fasten
the Velcro.
• The neck pad can be adjusted individually, but
it should lie over the middle of the shoulder.
You can adjust the length of the arm rest with
the two screws on the forearm splint.

Setting the flexion and extension limits
To adjust the excursion first pull the safety rod
out of the joint cap. Then rotate the joint cap
round to one of the pins, remove the pin and
insert it in the desired position. Repeat this
process for the second pin. Rotate the cap back
to the original position and insert the safety rod.
Extension limitation wedges: 0° to 120°
Flexion limitation wedges: 0° to 120°
Important notes
Adjust the extension and flexion limits on the
instructions of your doctor only.
Care instructions
The pads can be washed by hand in mild, cold
soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. Do not wring out.
Leave in the air to dry. Do not iron.
Soap residues may cause skin irritation or
damage to the material.
When used normally the joint mechanism is
maintenance-free. However, in exceptional
circumstances the hinges can be lubricated using
Teflon™ spray.
Storage instructions
Store in a dry place at room temperature. Protect
from heat, direct sunlight and moisture.
