INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Important information
In addition to the information provi-
ded in this document, the following
UNI regulations must also be taken
into account:
- 10683/2005 - heating appliances
fired by wood or other solid biofuels:
installation requirements
- 9615/90 - calculation of inside
dimensions of chimneys.
In particular:
- before starting any installation
work, system compatibility must be
checked as set forth in paragraphs
4.1/
4.1.1
/
4.1.2
10683/2005.
- on completion of installation,
the installer must proceed with "com-
missioning"
the
appliance
issuing the documentation required
by UNI 10683/2005, specified
respectively in paragraphs 4.6 and 5.
Check that all connections, controls
and moving parts work correctly
before fitting the covering.
The fireplace must be tested,
when lit and running at full capaci-
ty for some hours, before the firebox
is covered so that action can be
taken if necessary.
Therefore, finishing work such as:
- constructing the hood surround
- covering the fireplace
- decorative work, painting, etc.
must only be carried out after succes-
sful completion of the test.
must only be carried out after succes-
sful completion of the test.
Consequently, Edilkamin is not liable
for any expenses incurred deriving
from demolition or reconstruction
work, even when carried out as a
consequence of replacing firebox
components found to be faulty.
Prerequisites
•FIRETRONIX fireboxes must be installed in
compliance with the instructions detailed
here below, as correct installation is essential
for the system to operate safely and efficiently.
•Read these instructions carefully before
proceeding with installation.
•EDILKAMIN declines all responsibility for
any damages deriving from non-compliance
with these instructions, which would also
entail loss of warranty entitlements.
•FIRETRONIX fireboxes are delivered pre-
assembled on disposable pallets.
The firebox is delivered with a pre-assembled
internal lining.
of
UNI
•A tag plate is fixed to the firebox, below the
door, indicating the model; the tag plate
remains visible until the firebox is covered.
The model number is also given in the
documentation accompanying the product.
and
Protection of the building
All building surfaces adjacent to the firebox
must be protected against overheating.
Insulation measures will depend on the
surface type and construction.
Hot air outlets / grilles
Hot air outlets must be at least 50 cm away
from the ceiling and 30 cm away from furni-
ture.
Position the grilles and air outlets in the upper
part of the covering to prevent heat from
accumulating within the covering
itself. Position the grilles and air outlets to
facilitate access for cleaning.
Thermal insulation
Insulating layers must be overlapping and
free of joints. The insulating material must be
at least 3 cm thick.
Decorative beams
Decorative wooden beams can be fitted in
front of the firebox covering, but they must be
positioned out of the radiation
range, at least 1 cm away from the covering.
The cavity isolating the decorative elements
and the covering must not accumulate heat.
Decorative wooden beams must not be an
integral part of the building.
Floor in front of the firebox
Floors built using combustible material must
be protected by a sufficiently thick non-com-
bustible coating.
Floor protection requirements:
at the front:
- equivalent to the height of the fire bed off
the floor plus 30 cm, and in any case not less
than 50 cm.
at the sides:
- equivalent to the height of the fire bed off
the floor plus 20 cm, and in any case not less
than 30 cm.
Within the radiation range of the firebox
Structural elements built using combustible
material or containing combustible compo-
nents and furniture must be positioned at
least 80 cm away from the firebox opening,
in all directions: at the front, back and sides.
In the event that the elements or furniture are
protected by a ventilated anti-radiation
shield, a distance of 40 cm is sufficient.
Outside the radiation range of the fire-
box
Structural elements built using combustible
material or containing combustible compo-
nents and furniture must be
positioned at least 5 cm away from the fire-
box covering.
Air contained in the room must be able to cir-
culate freely in that air space. No heat must
be accumulated within.
Electrical wiring
The walls and ceilings surrounding the fire-
box must not contain electrical wiring.
