PREPARATION OF INSTALLATION SITE AND EXTERNAL AIR INTAKE
Firetronix can be installed against an internal or external wall, as long as it can be
connected to an outdoor or
permanently open environment.
Two types of holes can be used for connection to the external environment:
• a COMBUSTION AIR INTAKE hole, 12.5 cm in diameter (illustration shown
alongside), which is obligatory.
• a HEATING AIR INTAKE hole, 14 cm in diameter (illustration shown alongside),
which is optional: the latter is however
recommended as it helps to provide compensation and the right level of humidi-
ty in the room. If not present, heating air is
taken exclusively from the room where the fireplace is installed and circulated by
a fan.
With respect to the axis of the fireplace, the two holes can be located in the follo-
wing positions (*):
-one on the right-hand side and one on the left
-both on the right-hand side
-both on the left-hand side
according to the specific installation requirements, as long as the innermost one
is at least 60 cm away from the axis of
the fireplace and at the lowest height possible from the floor (about 10, 20 cm).
To make the holes, proceed as follows:
-Mark a line on the wall corresponding to the axis of the fireplace.
-Mark the centre of the hole for the combustion air intake at a distance of at least
60 cm away from the axis of the fireplace and in one of the above-mentioned
positions.
-If required, mark the centre of the hole for the heating air intake, again at a
distance of at least 60 cm away from the axis
of the fireplace and in one of the above-mentioned positions.
-Make the holes using a core drill or chisel, ensuring it is well finished.
The wall where the fireplace is installed must have an earthed power socket with
a 1-1.5 Amp residual current device.
The location of the mimic panel must also be defined; it can simply be wall-moun-
ted or set into a standard electrical terminal box.
The mimic panel must not be fixed to the hood surround as it could be exposed
to heat.
Instructions given in the data sheet for the covering that will be used to finish it
should be considered before putting the
fireplace into position: this will allow you to position the fireplace away from the
back wall and, if necessary, raised off the floor and to decide on the best position
for the air intake holes.
Once the fireplace has been put into position, connect a 12.5 cm diameter flexi-
ble steel pipe to the COMBUSTION AIR PIPE UNION, located below the firepla-
ce at the front, using a pipe clamp. Then connect the other end to the 12.5 cm
diameter hole previously made in the wall. Seal carefully with silicone.
In the same way (if required) connect a 14 cm diameter flexible pipe to the HEA-
TING AIR PIPE UNION, located below the fireplace at the rear.
Then connect the pipe to the 14 cm diameter hole in the wall and seal it.
Fit a grille with an insect net on the external side of the holes, ensuring that the
grille does not reduce the cross-section of the ducts.
For the electrical connections, find the electronic circuit board located on the left
hand side of the HEATING AIR box, from which 1 cable and 1 twisted pair emer-
ge:
•connect the cable already equipped with a plug to the domestic power socket,
which must be earthed;
•connect the shielded twisted pair to the mimic panel, which can be wall-moun-
ted or installed in a standard electrical terminal box.
An "optional" shielded twisted pair is available for connection to a remote ther-
mostat if required.

If the heating air duct is connected on the right-hand side of

the fireplace, the self-adjusting valve must also be positioned on
the right-hand side (the factory position is on the left, which is suita-
ble if the heating air duct is also connected on the left).
