INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Smoke duct
The smoke duct is the duct connecting the
smoke outlet on the firebox to the mouth of
the flue.
The smoke duct must be a rigid steel or cera-
mic pipe; the use of flexible metal or fibre-
cement pipes is prohibited.
Horizontal or counter-sloping sections must
be avoided.
Changes in diameter are only allowed at the
outlet from the fireplace and not for example
at the point of connection with the flue.
Bends in excess of 45° are prohibited.
The point at which the steel pipe connects
with the smoke outlet pipe union on the fire-
place must be sealed with hightemperature
mastic.
The instructions set forth in UNI
10683/2005 at Paragraph
"Connection to smoke evacuation
system" and the relative subpara-
graphs must also be taken into
account.
4.2
Flue and chimney pot
The flue is the duct stretching from the room
where the fireplace is installed to the roof of
the building.
Essential features of a flue:
- mechanical strength, insulation and gas
tightness capable of withstanding smoke at a
temperature of at least 450°C
- well insulated to prevent the formation of
condensation
- constant cross-section, more or less vertical
and no bends in excess of 45°
- internal cross-sections should be circular; in
the event of rectangular cross-sections the
maximum ratio between the sides must not
exceed 1.5
- the surface of the internal cross-section
must be at least equal to that shown on the
data sheet
- it must only serve one firebox (fireplace or
stoves).
Well insulated stainless steel pipes of a suita-
ble diameter should be inserted into flues
that are not new or are too large.

- outlet cross-section not less than double
that of the flue
- position in full wind, above the roof and
outside the reflux area.
