3.6 CHECKS BEFORE INSTALLATION

Before installing PONYBENCH BTPLUS, you are advised
to check the suitability of the technical systems in the
workshop, and, if necessary, adapt them, observing the
following instructions:
Install a fi lter-regulator near the control console,
connected to the compressed air supply line and set
at 7/8 bars. Otherwise, install an air storage tank to
ensure minimum operational range for the lift.
WARNING! Pressure of compressed air must be
limited to 10 bars. If the bodyshop compressor
safety valve is set to pressure of above 10 bar,
a fi lter-regulator-pressure reducer-lubrication
unit equipped with pressure gauge must be
installed on the air intake supplying the control
unit, and the operating pressure set to 7- 8
bars.
Check lift operating voltage and frequency: they must
match the voltage and frequency of the workshop
supply mains. The lift operating voltage is indicated in
the specifi c instructions manual (1.12 - TECHNICAL
SPECIFICATIONS). The electrical equipment is usually
designed to operate at 400 V, 50 Hz.
Check the condition of the power cable and the earth
wire.
Check that an automatic circuit breaker with life-
saving device is installed upstream, to protect against
overcurrents.
For electrical version lifts, check the control board due
to power the hydraulic unit: it must be provided with
three fuses and a correctly set thermal switch.
Connect the cable to the appliance with utmost care,
in accordance with the regulations in force.
WARNING!Never connect the electrical system
leads directly to those of the workshop mains
supply: a fault in the latter's distribution system
can irreparably damage the lift's control unit
and cause serious injuries to the operator.

3.7 LIFT INSTALLATION

The equipment should be placed near the intended
installation area.
WARNING! Before beginning work, clean and
remove any obstructions from the installation
area. The area must be appropriately marked
out to keep unauthorised personnel out.
Check the condition and suitability of the
available equipment. As these operations are
dangerous, they must be performed by expert,
responsible personnel. When using the lifting
equipment, follow the safety regulations in
force in the country where the machine is being
used. Never touch lifted loads and do not stand
within the operating range of the forklift truck.
Remove the lift from the warehouse where it was stored
after shipment, using an adequate forklift truck.
Remove packing with utmost care and position the
equipment as follows:
Drive the fork lift truck near to the case containing the
machine and slide the forks between the bottom of the
lift and the case.
Slowly raise the lift from its case and lay it on the fl oor
in the assigned installation area, taking care not to
overturn the control unit.
Take the control console from the upper platform of
the lift and lay it at a distance from the lift that ensures
it is in a safe position.
Loosen the screws on the control console with an
Allen wrench, and withdraw the metal casing from the
console and control unit, putting it in a safe place (
Figure 7 page28).
PONYBENCH BTPLUS is supplied with a single-
acting jack and, therefore, the mobile platform can be
lifted without using the hydraulic unit.
With the mobile platform lowered, install the 4 lifting
eyelets in the holes on the corners of the surface of
the upper mobile platform.
Thread the pull ropes or chains through the 4 eyelets
on the upper mobile platform.
Attach the ropes/chains to the hook of the crane and
lift slowly until the upper mobile platform of the lift is
fully extended. Continue lifting until the base is about
20 cm off the fl oor.
Using the lifting equipment, place the lift in the
prepared pit, avoiding any damage.
Lower the crane slowly until the anti-fall safety hook
engages in the last stop on the lift base (the one which
corresponds to the maximum raised position of the
lift).
Keep the mobile platform of the lift hanging on the
crane hook.
Using an electric drill, drill 6 holes on the fl oor of the pit
in line with the holes on the base plate of the lift. Clear
residue from the holes with a rubber ball air blower.
Insert the M10 screw anchors one at a time into their
holes, knock them inside with a plastic hammer,
screwing down the relevant nuts.
