Let's talk about IMS - How was it created?
What was the general idea/vision for it?
We felt that something was missing at each
conference/music events we went to. No-one
was really focused on the business side of it.
Especially in Ibiza. Therefore we decided to
start our own conference. Now after so many
years I can say that we made the summer season
longer and we gave something back to the place
where we live, Ibiza.
What are the names that have made
possible this initiative?
Myself, Danny, Ben Turner, Pete Tong and Simeon
Friend. We have a strong balance between all of us.
Each of us has a specific skill that makes us work
brilliantly together. We also have to mention our
sponsor Pioneer that has been supporting from the
beginning.
How has IMS changed since 2007? How
would you describe those ten years?
It has been a journey. A labour of love. Our first
event at Atzarò and the Fenicia had around
90 people, and even now that we have grown

internationally, we still haven't changed, we believe
in the same philosophy we had at the beginning,
of course now we know that we are established
in the circle of electronic events, which is great!
Electronic music has also changed and now, it's at
a healthier point.
Why did you choose a location like Dalt
Vila for your evening events?
It's very simple, because it's the most iconic
location in Ibiza. It has not been easy, the logistic,
the expenses... it can be a nightmare but all of
this disappears in front of the magic of that place.
The energy there is amazing. Everyone that has
participated at our events has felt it. It's a magical
place for sure.
What is happening this year?
We are always looking to grow. We are doing our second
show at the Hard Rock Hotel on the 26th May called
"Back to Life" which is a showcase for electronic live
music. Bands have had an important role in our scene.
This year we also have Pet Shop Boys talking, they have
been instrumental in the foundation of electronic music,
as well as a discussion with Yello.
