3.15 ROW MARKER

The row marker is a machine that traces a reference line parallel
to the tracks of the tractor on the ground.
When the tractor finishes a row and makes a U-turn, the front
wheel will align one of the front wheels with this reference line
(Fig. 30). Each time it passes, the seeder will mark a reference
line on the side opposite to the previous passage. Row-marker
arm inversion is activated by the tractor's hydraulic distributor
control.
The plungers should be connected by their hydraulic pipes to the
ancillary hydraulic distributors of the tractor.
A throttle nipple, with the function of pressure regulator, is screwed
onto the exit of the cylinder (Fig. 32/2). If functioning is found to be
irregular due to impurities in the oil, remove the nipple, clean the
calibrated hole, and then put it back. The hydraulic row marker
device has a valve that alternately operates the two arms, so that
just one hydraulic tractor distributor is present.
When the system is not in use protect the quick couplings with
the hoods provided (Fig. 31) and house the hydraulic pipes in the
support provided for the purpose.
3.15.1 HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
System regulation
The hydraulic systems provided come equipped with one-way
flow regulators (Fig. 32/1) which allow for the regulation of the
quantity of oil during opening or closing, depending on how the
regulators have been installed:
- Flow from A to B, free;
- Flow from B to A, choked (regulated).
To regulate, loosen the lock nut (1 Fig. 32/1) and turn the knob (2
Fig. 32/1).
Once this adjustment has been made, re tighten the lock nut.
Make sure that the result of this adjustment does not cause
the rising or descent speed to damage the structure itself.
Never exceed the maximum admissible pressure for the
hydraulic system.
Safety measures concerning the hydraulics:
1) When the hydraulic pipes are connected to the hydraulic
system of the tractor, make sure that the hydraulic systems
of the operating machine and the tractor are not under
pressure.
2) For hydraulic-type functional connections between the
tractor and operating machine, sockets and plugs must
be marked with colours, in order to prevent errors. It could
be dangerous if they were accidently confused.
3) The hydraulic system is under high pressure; due to the
risk of accident suitable auxiliary instruments should be
used when investigating possible leakage points.
4) During road transport the hydraulic connections between
the tractor and the operating machine should be
disconnected and secured on the support provided for the
purpose.
5) Do not use vegetable oils for any reason. These could cau-
se damage to the cylinder gaskets.
6) The working pressures of the hydraulic system should fall
within 100 bar and 180 bar.
