Donning the Escape Hood
or withstand exposure to direct flame or high heat.
UNPACKING
When you receive the apparatus, inspect it to be sure it has
not been damaged in shipment. In may cases, you will not
be the first to handle the apparatus. So, check that it is
assembled correctly. Check the air cylinder to be sure it is
FULL. The pressure gauge should read 3000 psi at 70°F for
the 10-minute unit and 2216 for the 5-minute unit.

DONNING THE TRANSAIRE ESCAPE HOOD

The cylinder may be worn three ways: Chest-mounted,
hip-mounted, or waist-mounted.
To Don the Cylinder and Carrier
1. Chest-Mounted:
a. Check that the strap hook is attached to the bot-
tom D-ring.
b. Adjust the carrier strap to fit comfortably over your
head.
c. Slip the strap over your head so that it rests on the
back of your neck.
2. Hip-Mounted:
a. Adjust the carrier strap so that it is fully extended.
b. Attach the strap hook to the D-ring.
c. Slip one arm into the strap. Place the strap over
your head and rest it on your shoulder.

3. Waist-Mounted (using the optional shoulder strap):
a. Attach the shoulder strap to the top D-rings.
b. Remove the carrier strap from the D-ring and
adjust the strap to its full length.
c. Don the shoulder strap. Pull the adjusting strap for
a snug, comfortable fit.
d. Attach the carrier strap hook to the D-ring and
adjust the strap to your waist size.
