8.2.2 Compressed Air Cylinders with DSG or MASS Pressure Reducer

Check that the sealing surfaces on the cylinder valve and the sealing ring on the high pressure fitting of the
pressure reducer are in an acceptable condition.
Connect the pressure reducer or flexible high pressure hose on the compressed air cylinder with breathable
air as defined in EN 12021 (see paragraph 4.1).
Before operating with compressed air cylinders read and follow carefully the Instructions for use of the cylinder
model (steel or composite versions) Pay particular attention to filling instructions!
To prevent a condensate formation never completely discharge cylinders, if it is not specifically required and
after use always close cylinders valve. Keeping them closed unless in use

Donning the Compressed Air Line Breathing Apparatus

8.3.1 DSL or MASS Basic Apparatus

Don the waist belt with connector. The connector is located on the left side.
Connect lung governed demand valve to connector.
Connect compressed air supply hose to connector and compressed air supply.
Before using, carry out a short inspection as described in 8.4.1.
Open the compressed air supply.
Put on the full face mask, tighten the head harness and check the seal seat. (For the leak test see the
operating manuals for the full face mask.)
Connect lung governed demand valve to full face mask (see operating manual for lung governed demand
valve)
Check that it is functioning by taking several deep breaths.

8.3.2 DSL or MASS ASV Basic Apparatus

Don the waist belt with ASV. The ASV is located on the left side.
Attach the related self-contained breathing apparatus (see the operating manual for the self-contained
breathing apparatus).
Connect the medium pressure line from the self-contained breathing apparatus to the ASV (Fig. 2 ->
Connection "3").
Connect the lung governed demand valve to the ASV (Fig. 2 -> Connection "4").
GB
Connect the compressed air supply hose to the ASV and to the compressed air supply (Fig. 2 -> Connection
"1").
Before using, carry out a short inspection as described in 8.4.2.
Open the compressed air supply and cylinder valve(s) of the self-contained breathing apparatus.
Put on the full face mask, tighten the head harness and check the seal seating. (For the leak test, see the
operating manuals for the full face mask.)
Connect lung governed demand valve to full face mask (see operating manuals for lung governed demand
valve)
Check that it is functioning by taking several deep breaths.
