6.8)Welding circuit

The good performance of the Smashweld 316 or Smashweld 316 Topflex depends on the usage of a copper
"Work" cable, isolated, and with the smallest length possible and compatible with the considered
application(s), and in good trim, tightly fixed in its terminals, and still, the connections in the piece to be weld,
or in the working station and in the "negative" terminal of the set should all be correctly fixed.
Regardless of its total length (which should be the smallest possible) and regardless of the welding current
used, the part of the "Work" cable should correspond to the maximum current that the unit uses to supply in
the duty cycle of 100%.
The electric resistor of the welding circuit causes drops in the voltage which added to the natural internal
slopes of the rectifier itself, decreases the arc voltage and the maximum current available making the arc
unstable.
7) OPERATION
7.1)Welding in a continuous mode
Having the Smashweld assembly connected to the main power, the welding gun and the correct wire type
and diameter installed, the shielding gas circuit established and the "Work" cable connected:
1) Set the ON/OFF switch of the power source in ON, the motor exhauster starts to turn creating an air flow
needed to cool the machine and the pilot lamp turns on.
2) Position the mode selecting switch to "CONTINUOUS" position
3) With the gun trigger pressed, adjust the shielding gas flow to the value needed; the flow of 12 l/min is
adequate for the majority of applications.
4) Pre-adjust the empty voltage value according to the application.
5) Adjust the "ANTI-STICK" time to approximately 1/3 of the range.
6) Open the arc.
7) Change the above adjustments according to the need to obtain a bead of the desired shape and aspects.
7.2)Welding in points or intermittently (only with Smashweld 316)
Having the Smashweld assembly connected to the main power, the welding pistol and the correct wire type
and diameter installed, the shielding gas circuit established and the "Work" cable connected:
1) Set the ON/OFF switch of the power source in ON, the motor exhauster starts to turn creating an air flow
needed to cool the machine and the pilot lamp turns on.
2) Position the welding mode selecting switch to "POINT" position (
3) With the gun trigger pressed, adjust the shielding gas flow to the value needed; the flow of 12 l/min is
adequate for the majority of applications.
4) Pre-adjust the empty voltage value according to the application.
5) Adjust the welding point or intermittent time to the desired value.
6) Adjust the "ANTI-STICK" time to approximately 1/3 of the range.
7) Open the arc.
8) Change the above adjustments according to the need to obtain a bead of the desired shape and aspects.
