7. ADJUSTING THE MACHINE
Adjusting the guide plate.
Mount the guide plate (2) on the support (11) and fix it in place
with the screw lever assembly (1).
1
The height of the guide plate (2) must be adjusted to the thickness
of the piece being worked. Do this by rotating the lever (1) to
loosen it and using the scale or a ruler to adjust the guide plate
(2) to the thickness of the board + 1.5 - 2 mm.
Adjusting the height of the edgings
1
The edgings must be 2 or 3 mm higher than the piece to be
veneered.
Cut the edgings 5 or 6 cm longer than the piece they are to be
glued to.
Control the height of the edges by adjusting the guide. Place the
edging between columns (17) and (18). Loosen adjustment knob
(4) of columns (18) and set the retaining bar to the height of the
edging + 0.5 mm.
Adjusting the amount of glue
19
Use the glue control knob (13) to control the amount of glue
applied to the edging.
17
As soon as the machine has warmed up and the granulate has
melted, rotate the glue control knob (13) to position "0" "-"
(clockwise). Check the amount of glue that it deposits by doing a
trial run on a spare edge (about 1 metre long). Thread it between
columns (17) and (18) until it reaches the feed roller (19). Slowly
turn the glue control knob (13) anticlockwise towards "+" until it
is about 1/3 open to allow the glue to pass. Turn advance switch
(A) to position "I" and move the edging forwards so that it is taken
up by feed roller (19). When the edging emerges, check that it has
a good, even coating of glue, otherwise adjust the glue control
once again.
When doing the trial run with the test edging, remember that
the glue needs 2 or 3 seconds to flow from the tank to the gluing
roller.
As a general rule it is only necessary to make this adjustment
once.
With a full glue tank you can glue approximately 25m of edge with
a depth of 25mm, or 13m of edge with a depth of 45 mm.
The glue control knob (13) should not be adjusted
once the machine has cooled down. The control knob
(13) should only be adjusted when the advance switch
(A) light is on.
