If the tester will not power up, communicate with your vehicle's computer, pass
Tool Self-Tests, or functions incorrectly in any other way, then try these
Trouble-Shooting Tips below before consulting Actron.
My tester will not power up.
If your tester does not power up, check the following:
• Make sure the DLC is firmly held in the vehicle's connector.
• The vehicle's battery has a minimum 8 volt charge. The tester requires
a minimum of 8 volts to power up.
• Verify that the vehicle's DLC has power and ground on proper pins.
With a volt meter check for power and ground at the vehicles OBD II
connector.
- Measure DC voltage from the power, pin 16 (BAT+), to the vehicle's
battery negative(-) terminal. The reading should be 8.5v or greater.
- Measure resistance from the ground, pin 5 (Chassis Ground), to the
vehicle's battery negative (-) terminal. The reading should be 5Ω (ohms)
or less.
